I am already on my second right hand K&N filter. I used RTV red and tightend the hose clamp supplied with the filter. Bike started running funny on top of the Chesapeake Bay bridge, looked down, no filter. Me thinks its swiming with the fishes. If anyone has figured out how to keep these things on, you could give me a shout.

There was a post, I think in the Miscellaneous section that covered this, if I remember right, the pointers that came out of that, were to completely clean the mating surfaces, then RTV is a good option, if all else, use some lockwire, and fashion a harness from the back of the filter and around the front of the carb body. Are you still using the faux filter covers (cheese graters)?? Those help to keep the filters with the bike even if the filter actually falls off the carb.

Tighter!
Mine kept falling off until I finally got sick and tired of it and torqued it down pretty tight. Hasn't come off since. And I been to Ga and back.

Thanks guys, I am going to build some sort of safety catch to keep it from falling off if it comes loose.

What is the part number for a 2005 TBA K&N oil filter?
I found one for the 2003 KN-191 would this be the same for the 2005, on K&N's website it does not list the 2004 and 2005....

Thanks...

"torquing it down tight" won't do a bit of good unless both the carb and the filter are clean. I lost a couple filters until I figured this out. I also made some "leashes" for my air cleaners with simple wire. They're not pretty but they're functional. They were only tested once, and the filters haven't come off in over a year. In fact, I forgot I even had them until I saw this thread.
