Has anyone noticed excessive rotor wear with the sintered brake pads? I'd rather replace pads than rotors.
Thanx, Cody

Yes - On my rear rotor. Not excessive to the point of replacement, but clearly more worn that the fronts which I replaced with Triumph issued pads.

I've got 24000 on my Speedy, and checking with my simple caliper tool it looks like my rotor is down about 0.5mm. I've always run standard pads, or whatever the shop used to replace them. I just ordered sintered pads from Ed. This will be the third replacement for the rear pads (I think). I don't recall ever replacing the fronts.

I mis-stated. I'm about the same @ about 20,000. Third set on the rear now (Originals + 2 replacements). The fronts are Triumph and have yet to be replaced. They should be. They seemed about done when I did the rears in the early fall. I have a set of cintered on the garage wall with the aspirations of putting them on soon. I have been debating putting them on due to the rotor appearance of the rear following the use (1 set) of cintered. It may be a non-issue in the long run, but my immediate thought is "If these cintered pads make this sort of visible difference in the rotor, its cheaper to buy a softer pad and preserve the rotor???? I'll probably put the cintered ones on since I have them though.
I was getting inspected when I did the rears last fall. I had already bought front and rear pads. Its a long story, but the dealer gave me a set of his un-cintered pads (because I left mine hanging on the wall at home). So, now I have the un-cintered f&r.

They're called "organic pads", FYI.

You are absolutely correct. Now, explain why.

I have sintered pads f/r and the difference is amazing. I would rather replace rotors eventually than have less braking power now. There is nothing more important than stopping in time.

At 48,000 miles, I've noticed less wear on rotors and pads are lasting longer since I started using Dupont Teflon Wheel cleaner. My brakes don't work, but they last longer. Just kidding - The stuff is great, but the disc brakes don't like the teflon wheel cleaner for the first few stops after use.

Is it just me or does the wheel get dirtier with sintered pads?

They are called "organic" because they are grown without using chemicals or insecticides in a lush valley using water from a clear mountain stream for irrigation.. Hand-picked at harvest by virgin maidens wearing drndl dresses, then gently packed in soft cushiony containers and shipped to dealers and vendors around the world.
Then we buy them and wear the crap out of them in 5000 miles or less.

Me too! I have the cintered on my bike. Ceramics on the car all the way. Do they bake ceramics for our bike?
