Our rider group had a meeting with some local moto officers about safety on Sat. Great turnout and good info-nothing we haven't heard before; speed is the number 1 cause of single vehicle accidents, usually mixed with alcohol-and all the stuff MSF teaches.
I also talked to the officer who worked the accident in the previous post. The SUV driver didn't want to wait at the light so he cut through the service station, the TURNED LEFT into incoming traffic trying to get across the road and ran head on into the motorcycle rider and then over him. The Texas DPS is reconstructing the accident and the officer said the driver will go to prison becuase this was so blatant and he broke numerous laws in order to kill someone-'accident' is not a good word for what happened.
