If I do the big bore, is that enough? What else should be done? Port and polish? Should I do the oversize valves? I am not very knowledgable, so help is appreciated.

Oh man!! I'm going to jail!!

you'll have to take the jugs to a machinist to do the bore/press work for the big bore. that will cost you just under $200, but while you're there and while the head is off you might as well have the machine shop do a port/polish, they'll probably only charge you another $100 or so. Oversize valves are not really produced yet, only custom orders. Mine were $250 and took 6-8 weeks to arrive.

depends what your actually going for and how much $$$$ you have. but pats guy in NY seems to give a good deal on both pressing the sleeves and a little port work

Pat's guy does offer really good pricing, the only problem I had with sending it there was the shipping costs and down time. I just sent my head off to a machine shop and it cost me around $60 each way, and that's just for the head!

I finally got my valves from Manley and sent everything off to Pat's guy(Seely engine machine) in NY. Valves were $200, and the shop estimated $500 for BB install, port/polish, install larger valves, and set valve/cam clearance. Shipping was about $60 each way for everything, but not having a machine shop I trust around here it is worth it to me. Especially since they have done this work on the same motor before.

It's definately costing more than I thought it would, but if it runs like I think it will I won't complain.

My local shop charged $450 for the same work, and did a wonderful job, but Seely is a sure thing.
