This is speculation of course, but I would rather increase my engine with the upcoming 1200 kit than trade for with a 1500 I think. The America is so light and handles so well I can't imagine a parallel twin any larger being as agile.
Most 1500's are 650 pounds or more and moving those pigs around your garage or into a tight parking spot when it's 100 degrees has got to be less fun than doing the same with the America.
And the power to weight ratio is the big deal to remember unless you just want a bigger bike and are willing to shell out the additional money which I bet is $500 to $700 over the existing Speedmaster. For a long range tour bike, probably the 1500 will be great. Or for someone that the existing bikes just don't fit.
My brother has literally looked at every bike on the market and finally settled on a new America. These bikes are just hard to beat for the price/performance and NOTHING looks as cool.
