Hard to understand these kids today.
My wife's ex kicked their youngest son out of his house yesterday. Sent him back to my house.
We had sent him to live with his Dad before school started this year, because of some troubling discipline signs over the summer, and as he was going into high school this year, we thought (they thought) a change would be good, and his Dad would command a little more respect than his Mother had been. WRONG!
Fifteen years old, and (my belief), is he just never had any guidance, or discipline, growing up, and now he has no respect for his elders. Any of them.
My wife sheltered him too much - he never had to participate in any household chores or yard work activities, even when his older brother, and my own two sons were actively involved. This one would always be the last one out, and the first back in. Never made to answer "Sir", or "Mam", (I think THAT is the root cause of it all), he never learned to respect anybody, and so he never respected teachers, the school, or, most importantly, his parents. He always got his way, or kept nagging (crying when he was younger), until he did, and he always did.
Now it's pot, and who knows what else...I think he's heading to Boot Camp, myself, if he doesn't wind up in jail first. H*ll I smoked a lot of dope, and would in a heartbeat, today (lost all my connections), but I was always smart enough to not get caught. This kid took pictures of the stuff on his digital camera, and then his Dad saw the pics! These kids either just aren't bright enough to think about the stupidity of that, or maybe they just don't give a da*n, I don't know. Has to dress like a thug, with his cap turned to the side, and his baggy, too large pants like all the getto kids want to wear. (why is it that he retail department stores stock so much of that crap, and not the traditional clothes Jr. and Sr. High school kids ought to be wearing?) Blacklight posters of TuPak on his wall (he even wrote on his bedroom wall in flourescent ink - graffitti - and his Mother didn't even make a fuss about it! I hate to think what his MySpace page looks like, but his Dad told us we needed to check it out...
My wife is afraid of her own baby son now, because he is bigger than she, and he talks back to her because she never slapped his face to get any respect when he was younger. I don't/won't put up with it when I am around, but it's just a matter of time.....It'll be him or me, but there won't be room enough here for the two of us, that is for sure. I was raised better than that. She won't allow me to take control, I'll be DA*NED if he's going to be!
