I've never really liked the fact there's what like 3 different finishes on the front end (brushed alum, powder coat, chrome)... I want to turn the front end on my '06 SM to mostly chrome or highly polished 'show' finish...
oooo...shiney

Anyone swap out front ends?

What are the key sizes/features etc. I'll need to take into consideration?

What are some of your opinions on raked triple trees? I'd like to get a little more but don't want to have to cut into the frame & I was thinking that'd be a fairly easy way....

You ever get an answer to this?
Im in the process of getting the front end polished...all the parts are in bins in the garage and will be taken someplace (dont know where yet) on the 2nd. My only concern is that lower yoke...its ugly!
Id prefer polishing but worst case may be chrome and a few paychecks

I looked into it awhile back but found it was easier to get a whole new frame.....Angelis

The bottom yoke on mine didn't have clear coat like the top and wasn't as tough to strip.
If I remember correctly, I used the thumb and paper method on it.
My powdercoat guy has a bucket of stripper, & I had him do the top.
That one was tough, and came out slightly pitted, so there was still some of that t&p stuff involved.
I've been wondering lately how a die grinder & scotchbrite would've done.

The really gnarly part is the fork legs.
There's a lot of sand cast & rough machining in evidence there.
It really shows up once the coating is stripped.
