Here are my 2 cents worth. I have the smooth Corbins front and rear and yes they are leather. You can definitely tell the difference from the factory seat. I treat mine at least monthly and they do take to the oil nicely. A vinyl seat won't absorb the treatment like the leather does. When I apply the treatment you can watch it soak in as well. I never could smell the "leather" either but, then again the seats aren't closed in like the leather in a car to keep the smell in. Generally the smell is a bi-product of the tanning process. I think you will be quite happy with them when you get your problems resolved. They ride nicer and stay firmer. Makes for a great ride over a longer haul. IMO!
