I'm going through some powdercoating dramas right now. I had my lower legs (and a bunch of other parts) powdercoated satin black. Upon reassembly, by mechanic is telling me that some paint got inside the castings and now he can't reassemble them. He sent the castings back to me and I cleaned them as best I could. I didn't see any residue.
Long story short, the mechanic still claims he can't reassemble them so I had him ship everything back to me and I dropped them off at another dealer.
I could have easily performed the work myself, but you'll need new seals and not knowing what other little clips and seals were needed, I thought it best to have a Triumph shop do the work as they can get whatever parts are needed. I hope to get them back this week.
If I had to do it all over again, I'd spray the assembled lower legs with Polyurethane paint.
