Does anyone have any "true" dyno results with the freak and or both the big bore kit?

Joker, I'm wondering the same thing. I'd like to see some hard dyno results about specific upgrades. Its fun to test the results for yourself but its nice to see exactly what HP each upgrade is bringing.

I'd like to see a dyno chart for the '05 SM. It would really be nice to see my theory on the power curve for that beasty proved or disproved.

I had mine Dyno tuned after my frak installation. I have Septers, the AI removed and I don't really know what I have in it for jets anymore.
I had the pictures of the test posed on the old site but I have misplaced them but I will look for them.

I do remember that it was almost 79hp at the rear wheel.

Man thats sweet, 79hp at the rear wheel. If you could shave some more weight off the bike, that thing will fly. They say its always easier getting the first 10hp and losing the first 100lbs after that, its takes loads of cash.

Exactly whats mods are you running to get the 79HP? Do you have a big bore kit?

Rich,
79hp? Ok, come on, you gotta back that one up.
I get about 65 with freak, Thunderbike pipes and TBS needles.

Me too! 3 consecutive dyno runs @ 64.7hp BEFORE Freak and CR carbs, 69hp with Freak & CRs. Torque varried @ 49.6 to 51.3ft lbs. Note: the DynoJet dyno can be off by a solid 10% depending on how the shop has the thing set-up.

Who said 79??? I find that very hard to swallow. I peaked at near 69 with a little tweeking but that I believe is about max without boring and cams.

One of the good and bad thing about UBB is the ability to delete your posts.

I can't remember who posted it but someone said in this thread that they were getting 79 rw hp. Yeah right....

On another note, I found a place here in Ft. Lauderdale that will do 3 pulls for $30. I am not kidding. I called them today because I got a flyer in the mail.

Even better, the flyer gets me 10% off! I have an appointment next Wed. I want find out if all the mods I've done are spot on or not.

Joker,
I never did a baseline stock dyno so I can't comment on that, book says about 54, sounds right to me.
I ran the mikuni carbs for awhile but they just would not dial in without running way too rich. I had to pretty much shut the things off and starve the cylinders which I figure was defeating the purpose of $2k worth of pretty bits. I did many many dyno runs with the mikunis and various pipes, trying to get rid of the stutter caused by the overrichness - never did, I averaged about 64-65hp at rear wheel with that setup.
Now I have the freak, K&Ns, 160 mains and thunderbike pipes. I dynoed before installing the TBS needles and got a beautiful straight line at 45° and about 65hp 50 or so flat torque line. Hm, pretty much the same as with the mikunis. I don't remember exact specs, but i still have the printout home somewhere.I have since put in the tBS needles and it helped a minute blip in the 3500rpm area. It pulls hard and strong and hits that red line cutoff much quicker now. Even got to hammer it a few miles yesterday. I will be doing the big bore soon and get dyno printouts when I get it all broken in as well.

I have my Dyno base results listed in my performace settings along with the increase after the FREAK was installed. I have done some rejeting since, but have not had the Dyno redone with the latest mods.
Stock TA dyno: max power 52.3 max torque 40.8
After FREAK and Bub dresser dogs and first jetting
max power 65.1 max torque 47.4

Gentlemen,
I have the "Popcorn Poppers on Steroids" Off-Road pipes on my Speedy and am looking to get the Freak kit installed this year. My question is, will the Freak kit still be an effective way to gain some hp's without a better set of open pipes?

Moto - Good question! I was wondering the same thing - does the Freak kit add some hp (and if so, how much?). I've got Bub slashcuts and everything else is stock - but no dyno numbers.

Pat - comments?
Thanks!

Aw crap Steve,

<I've pulled 64HP with the Freak, short offroad pipes and rejetting> Good job, bro!

So you didn't have to buy Thunderpipes to get that? LOL!

I thought I was going to get that dyno I posted about done but my clutch cable will not be back tomorrow. Monday's holiday ensured that. I hope it gets delivered to Barnett tomorrow and back here Thursday. I took Friday off to get a Rhino-liner sprayed in my truck, so I am hoping against hope that I can get the numbers on Friday, either in the morning or afternoon!

No matter when, you guys will see pics of actual dyno results VERY soon. After all, I have a camera

I got new tyres on yesterday metzler 880 rear ME33 front and the dude at the shop threw in a free dyno run while I was there. I have never witnessed a dyno run before and watching my scoot being put thru its paces was a real eye opener. Man these are really strong engines. When the dude loaded up the dyno the sound from the engine working that hard sent a tingle up my spine. I love this bike!!!
So here is the chart showing HP only but it was pulling 48.2 torque and 60.4 HP.
My setup is:
Unifilter
All snorkels gone
2" hole in bottom of filter and airbox
140 main
45 pilot
TBS needle
3 turns on mixture screws
Madaz stainless pipes(minimal baffle)
The dyno dude says too rich on main jet - suggested I try a 130. Also a little rich on the needle but nothing I can do about that. He suggests I go for more baffle to increase back pressure. He also reckons I should get about 64 ponies after I make these changes.

The tech running the dyno said my set up was spot on. I'm running 135s, 45s and one shim on the stock needle. The air mixture is set a bit rich at 3.5 turns. The Freak opened things right up. I like the sound and look of the Triumph short offroads and evidentlly the bike likes them as well. The dyno indicated 64hp, 49lbft of torque and a top speed of 122.6 mph. I've been toying with the idea of a performance cam, but I want to make a long trip with this set up first before I drop that kind of money. This bike has been the best investment I've made over the years. Now if the weather would give us a break. Ride safe.

Sorry bro, no file uploads allowed but you could display the pdf and the take a screen shot?

Alt-Printscreen copies the active window only. Then paste it into your paint program and save it as a jpg.
