I'm going to work on the big island in April for five months. How can I get my BA over there without braking the bank? Is there a dealer maybe buy a bonnie and sell it when I leave. What other options do I have? I don't want to be triumphless in paradise.

well when i was there (early 80's) you cuold rent a moped on the Big Island.

Yeah but there are limits....
I could rent a moped in Sydney but I choose not to....

All depends on the size of the bank I guess. A friend of mine suggested this. http://www.uship.com/shipping/motorcycles/
good luck

Gina I put that out there because at that time, that was all you could rent on the big island. There where no motorcycle dealerships. Oahu had a HD dealer and a couple Jap dealers, but that was it.

I've been with your sister. I'd rather ride the moped.

There isn't a Triumph dealer on the Big Island. I lived on the Big Island for 5 years from the late 80's - early 90's. Shipping between the Islands wasn't very much back then and only took a few days. I would suggest calling the dealer on Oahu 808-671-6711. Tell them what you are looking for, maybe they would keep their eye out for a used Triumph or maybe they would have something in stock you could purchase. Used would definitely be the way to go for a 5 month ownership. You could also check the Hilo or Kona newspaper classifieds online. If you could get your bike to great falls before you left I could store it free of charge in my Garage (look good parked next to my speedy)

I rent a harley everytime I'm in Maui as I've tried to locate a triumph for rent but have never found one on any of the islands. Haven't been over there since 2005 though so I don't know if there are any options open now.

in Hawaii (Honolulu) Pasha Hawaii 808-523-8625
It cost me $500 last april to ship my Harley from Honolulu to San Diego. they were nery helpful... I shipped it "loose" which means it was not supposed to be on a pallet, but they put it on one anyway.
Good luck, Mary
