trying my best to fit it into my ride calender. Would be a great rally and even better b-day party. I am off from my primary job, just checked. now just need to tell my other jobs not to look for me.

Salisbury North Carolina.
Located between Charlotte and Winston-Salem/Greensboro on I-85. South and West of the mountains. North on Route 8 through Winston-Salem will lead you to the Promised Land. Thusly I have a picture of that slice of heaven: View at the NC/Virginia border on Rural Route 8. Lens is pointed North into Virginia. Behold the Appalachians in the background. That was a sad moment cause I knew I was saying goodbye to the mountain twisties, riding into North Carolina…

Costs $35.00. Spent half my day at work looking at the 230+ photos in their album.
Anyway, put those dates on my calendar...looks like fun.

I'll be there, I've been going since the first one and it is definitely worth the trip. You can pre register for $25.00 The big party is at the Holiday Inn after the fairgrounds close.

bump. "Beer is flowing and the girls are getting hotter with each passing minute. The music plays in the distance as the best bikes in the universe start to populate the grounds. Guys start tossing everything from anvils to pitchers of beer." I dont think anyone should miss this...

A lot of people where I'm from go to the Smoke Out every year........if you're into OLD SKOOL bikes, rat bikes, naked women, and rivers of beer this is the rally for you. They love Triumphs at this thing too!! No OCC clones, trailer queens, or yuppie bikers invited. A friend of mine is getting married on the 23rd, and I'm in his wedding, so unfortunately I will be missing it AGAIN this year....

Just a heads up for those that are going. The locals have decided that bikers are no longer welcome, despite filling their pockets with your money. Salisbury PostI sure hope the Smoke Out West in Arizona doesn't turn out like this. Try to have a good time.

just had to post this gem off that article Quote:
He dismissed the Internet chatter, saying many of those who write are people who "sit at their computers all day and don't ride motorcycles."

I liked this one...
"He said the police department typically has extra officers on duty during Smoke Out, and that it hasn't caused problems in previous years."
The Salisbury politicians have been raising a stink about the event all spring, and whining about all the "problems" those bikers create. An article a few months ago quoted one of them calling it a "Beer Fest and Skin Buffet". Well if it wasn't, I probably wouldn't go. LOL
Oh well, this is the last year at this location.
And this is why I won't go to any of the big rallies in the USA, like Sturgis, Laughlin River Run, etc. Cops are crawling all over the place, and hotels are jacked up to the point where you're just getting bent over.

Depends on where they move it to next year. Might be wise to look for some private property place, but even those still get hassled by the locals with permits, etc. With an event like this, I think it's a good idea to move it around every few years. Never fails when the locals get wind of what's going on, they throw a hissy fit.
I went to the Smoke Out West last year, first time they had one out west. Had a good time, lots of bikes, and very little police presence. Going back again this year, so we'll see.
