I have always wanted a digital caliper but I could not justify the $$$ for a good one. Even the plastic ones can be a bit pricey. Last weekend I happened to be in an Autozone auto parts store and they had one on a rack in the front aisle for $20... a Titan #23175. While it ain't a Starrett, it does what I need it to do and it's stainless steel.
They don't list it on their website, but here's a link to show what it is....

They also have a decent bearing/seal driver set for $50 - good for installing wheel bearings and seals instead of using punches, drifts or blocks of wood...
