Yep. Pulled the baffles from my Specialty Spares last summer. Sounded like holy hell but definitely lost the bottom end.

It doesn't count unless they run screaming down the street.

I Love 'Em. (I have heard you want to make sure the reducer is still in the front of the pipes. Don't remove that, it's for some backpressure) Other than that, F those baffels.

I've read a lot of post saying that the reducer needs to be left in. I read these after I gutted my pipes. I started with D&D's but didn't like the look or sound. I bought some stock BA pipes on eBay with three 1/4 hole drilled in the two outer baffles. They were not what I was looking for- too quiet and a big loss of performance. At first I just beat the baffles out -all of them. It sounded FANTASTIC. Not too loud and with a DEEP tone. There was still some loss in performance from the D&Ds. Being a dumble, I looked at the D&Ds and they were not reduced - a straight shot - so I figured- eh, what the heck. I took out the reducer and the corrugated hunk of aluminum (catalytic converter?) behind them. I noticed an improvement in performance. Back to where it was with the D&Ds. But they are very loud. Loud like the D&D but with a better sound- less of a blap that parallel twins make.

I removed the baffles from 2 bikes an 04 Speedmaster and an 04 America. Left just the cone in right at the end where it couples to the header. They are both at over 65hp on the dyno best run was 68hp.However they are not that much louder than Septres. My friend has those on his America.I would rather save the $620.BE SURE TO REJET THE CARBS!!!!I am running a 55 main and a 46 pilot. Not quite done in that department yet but its close. If you do not rejet you will run way lean and damage the engine.

I neglected to say my air box has also been removed. You will get a little more power if your pipes are not straight but I like the sound!! If I could make it even louder I would!!LOL

I run 16" JCW shorties. It's a straight pipe, love the sound. With the 16T front sprocket on a Speedmaster, I don't really notice any loss of bottom end. Maybe because the shorties are a fraction of the weight of the stock pipes.

I'd be interested in how you guys got the corregated converters out without removing the reducers. They have a steel pin welded in on each side that sandwiches the corregated converters and are in tight on their own. I had to take the reducers out to get the converters out. But, then again- I'm a tard.
