Thought I might share this. Just announced at the dealer show yesterday: Sportster Nightster
I think it's kind of cool... it looks really small though.

I think that's a pretty nice looking bike. You're right though, it does look like it might be a little cramped for taller riders.

It looks like the last version of the sportster all bobbed and blacked out. Still a girl's bike.

Maybe I'm a tad conservative, but my fav is the 1200 Roadster - pure and simple. Best ergos w/the mid pegs, but still a bit cramped for my liking. My guess it would fit better with a set of drag bars so my gut and ape arms aren't jammed in the way. Better yet - The Speedy is just about a perfect fit.

That bike is just hot. I hate to admit it, but at lest for the looks department, HD hit the nail on the head.
I just wish it wasn't $10 before the Harley tax kicks in.
Ah, well. Good on 'em for paying attention to what their clients want (and for not neglecting what I consider to be their best product).

Wow! VERY nice lookin' bike. Ya know, it's amazing when such a large company can design something that tasteful by committee, ain't it?! That puppy looks fast just sittin' still.
Now...I'm just wondering if the 865cc(let alone the "old" 790cc)Triumph Hinchley twins will still be comparable in performance, style and the sure to be magnetic pull of strangers and their admiring inquiries(yes...even "ladies", Friar John ) as this good lookin' 1200cc Harley is....which I'm sure will cost THOUSANDS MORE?
What do you guys think, anyway?
Cheers,
Dwight
(no really...What do you LEARNED[and maybe "cheap" like me] gentleman[oh, and ladies] out there think?)

I like the look, but the sporties never look balanced to me. That tank is just too tall in comparison to the seat. Also the side mounted plate looks like it would interfere with bags.

Wow! I can honestly say that is the first Harley I have considered owning, And 10,000 seems like a pretty good deal. I will keep my Speedie thanks, but could always use a second bike when the Triumph is paid off. I would be a little worried about being "too cramped" and I really like forward controls....ride safe... Gordon

Meh, it's a Harley. I'd rather have the XR1200. Don't really care for that gap between the seat and the gas tank, and this thing is lowered as much as an 883 Low, which has less ground clearance than a 1200 Low. Should be a hit though with the female posers.

While reading the info on the bike I noticed the tank is only 3.3 gal. I hope it gets really good milage or you would be stopping a lot.
Looking at the HD lineup, I probably like the Dyna Wide Glide the best only because it's got more of a rake (like our bikes) and doesn't look as squatty as the sporties.

I have never ever been a fan of sportster tanks. I know it's probably one of the most recognizable tanks around, but still...
Some interesting details on it tho. They are REALLY filling out that sportster line!

Ok, what’s with the gaiters? That's our trade mark. I guess imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Harley posers!

Apparently "denim" is code for "matte" or "satin" finish.

Thats a good looking motorcyle. Its not an 883, its a 1200 and looks like a bike should. They did a great job on it.
In the speed dept. our bikes can't handle that one in a straight line. Its not a girls bike IMHO.

There is some question on how to keep the denim colors satin looking. They are not cleared. My local HD dealer said don't wax or rub them. He ask me not to even touch the one on the floor, as it may get a shiny spot on it. So I guess you leave all the bug splats on them. -Tommy

Absolutely not - They come with factory authorized H-D Abrasive Detailing Pads - Available only at your local H-D Boutique (also available in kit form in the H-D Abrasive Detailing Kit, which includes authorized H-D embossed wipes)

I like the rear end. The fender, license plate bracket and the innovative brake/turn signal combo units look cool. In fact I could chop my rear fender and use those rear lights on my speedy.

I got the chance to sit on one at work today - man, it feels tiny. Even smaller than other sportsters. It might just feel that way because it sits so low to the ground. If I had it I would flip those handlebars upside down for a more aggressive riding position. It feels like you're sitting too upright for such a small bike. Otherwise, it looks cool and will probably be a big seller.

I think HD is on the right track with their night bikes. Even the blacked out VRod almost looks decent.

I like it.
A lot of members here lowered their bikes. This bike's about 6" lower than the Modern Triumph Classics. It has a little longer wheelbase, but is 2" shorter in length. A little over 79 ft. lbs of torque at 4k RPM gives it just over 60 HP (79.1 x 4000 / 5252 = 60.2) "out of the box". It's a bit on the heavy side, almost 100lbs heavier, so this probably evens things out. Triumph doesn't break down it's gear ratios, so true stock comparisons are difficult. Handling comparisons are difficult to quantify.
I never cared for both pipes being on one side, how would it look with pipes on both sides similar to the cross-over they use on their touring bikes?
Never being a fan of forward controls (thus my floorboards, a fair compromise), I like the idea of their position on the Sportster line.
I applaud HD's marketing and willingess to turn some of the money around from bobble-head sales to promote the business with some change. Although cosmetic in nature, it's still nice to see.
Just my 2 zloty,
Tom

I can see where it might be somewhat attractive...but I don't like it. Still to much of a hyena look.
