do any of you have a compass you carry with you on your bike?

I love small simple gadgets!

I think they even make bike compasses, like the bike clocks.

I don't have one because I have a big nose with lots of iron in it, but Brent sells one as I'm sure do others.

I've got the big nose too, but my iron count is down. I guess that's why I get lost alot.

Recently I've seen some of these GPS devices for cars and bikes. The price is really coming down on them now.

I have this one (2005 Christmas present):

from Formotion

I also got the handlebar mount. Don't really use it much down here () but when travelling, it's nice to know which direction is which when hitting an unfamiliar intersection. The beauty of this one is that it can be calibrated to compensate for interference.

I've seen it as cheap as $46....

A sextant. I have used one of those, but it was a while ago.

I have a compass mounted on my bars. Occasionally I use it. I like to take unfamiliar back roads and see where I end up. It has helped a number of times on the way home when I debated "left or right?"

BonnyUSA,
I am about to order one like yours. Do you think the handlebar mount is a lot better than the standard bolt-on mount for the 1/4 inch bolthole like on the control switch housing? Do you like the black faced or white face compass? What about night visibility?

I have the handlebar one. Got it so I could get the compass real level while in a riding position. They work best that way.

In restrospect, I wish I'd gotten the white face to match better but it was a Christmas present and I did not specify. Night vis? No lighting, but if I am that lost, I figure I better stop and fire up the lighter!
