I've been lurking here a bit while I decided what I really wanted (I've had everything from a Sears 106 to a Gold Wing). Not that I'm planning on checking out anytime soon, but I wanted this to be my last bike - a keeper! Figured I'd take my time and be sure, so I told all the dealers that I wouldn't be ready to buy until April. After the third trip to the Triumph dealer, the wife settled the issue by handing me a check. Her funds. Gotta love that girl! Anyway, here I am with a Silver America. Steve

You couldn't have made a better choice, especially now that Caspian Blue is no longer available Welcome to the site. You are right about the America being a keeper, I can't imagine selling mine after having it almost three years. Hold on to your wallet however, this site will give you LOTS of ideas on how to spend money and direct you to the places to spend it
We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

WHERE YOU AT IN JAX? I WAS STATIONED THERE FOR 8 YEARS AT NAS JAX.
CONGRATS, THIS IS THE PLACE FOR ALL YOUR QUESTIONS.

Thanks for the warm welcome.
I've already added NewSpeedmaster, Pat's site and a few others to my "favorites".
The bolt-on/take-offs have begun.
The rattle can has already met the rear peg hangers (and a few other bits), but the AI/Exhaust mods wait until after the 500 miler (next week?).
The search feature has been getting a workout - as has my printer.
And indeed, I am a lucky man. Now if Ed McMahon would just ring my doorbell, the checkbook could take a rest...
Beamer: I'm in the Fort Caroline area of Jax. On the river and 7 minutes from the sea. I never served, but NAS JAX holds many good memories. I inherited a car with stars on the decal and dated lots of dependents, so what else was a red-blooded American male in the 70's supposed to do? Golf, fishing, boating, skeet - NAS was like a second home. (P.S. Hope you weren't an M.P. back then).

And how are you planning to express your deep and abiding appreciation for such a loving and discerning woman? Saving up to hand her a check? Make it a matched pair of BAs?

A new pair of shoes of course!
No, I'd be glad to get her back on her own bike, but after neck surgery (vertebrae fusion/titanium plate) last year, the doc says that her riding days are over. We do still sneak out every once in a while just to clear the cobwebs. She's talking about a Vespa just for fun. Maybe...
