Jeff of Joe's Garage and I will be camping at the ABATE camp ground at the Volusia Fairgrounds (off of route 44 about 0.5 miles east of I-4). Cost per night is $15.00 and it is open camping, which means you can take up as much space as your group needs. Not sure which day we will be going up but more than likely no later than the 5th. Jeff will be bringing his enclosed trailer and at least 4 of his bikes (2 Triumphs, 1 BSA, 1 Norton & his work horse HD Dresser). I will just ride up.
We really like the ABATE campground for the following reasons: 1. Security is really good and performed by ABATE memebers. 2. They provide plenty of port-o-potties, which are emptied and cleaned daily. 3. They have showers on the campground. 4. They have a small cantina for breakfast or lunch. 5. Cost is probably the best in all the area. 6. A very relaxed atmosphere, where everyone is willing to help out if needed. 7. It isn't near downtown Daytona. It isn't really close to any of the main attractions, which we like because that means we are riding everyday. 8. They have a few vendors at the campground. 9. They do not care how much space you take up as long as it is being used. So you can have a group of 40 camping together or just yourself. 10. They provide fire wood at a very reasonable price.
Basically if we wanted to have a BA.com rally during Bike Week, the ABATE camp ground would be an ideal location.
