Gin is my whiskey - thanks for asking. British dry gin, of course. Although I have been known to spend a little quality time with a good Scotch. Room temperature, in a glass...

There is a fellow on this site from Dahlonega, and in the late '60's and early '70's, some of the absolute best whiskey came from there. (It may still be true, but I've been gone for a long time.) Smooth and powerful. I was even offered $100 a trip to drive a car from Dahlonega to Atlanta. As often as I wanted. I respectfully declined. I was a wild and crazy yute (thanks for teaching me that one, folks), but not too stupid. I think they aged it 3 or 4 days. It was great! Copper tubs did the trick, so I've been told. All the store bought stuff is ok, but not as good as this was.
Cheers!

No whisky, my prescription calls for Bacardi 151. Mixed with Diet Coke it's an Atkins-friendly 0 carbs. Strictly rationed (or else the werewolf arrives) at about a half gallon per year.

Man, I really like these forums! I just registered and already I met some people who share the same passion ... Triumphs and whisky :-) At the risk of being a "snob" I must admit I prefer Scottish singlemalt whiskies. One of my favorites is, without a doubt, Ardbeg. Some others I like are Lagavulin, Talisker and Bowmore. Of course, pure (no mixing and no ice).

Technically bourbon, but "Elijah Craig" is the best bang for the buck I've found. I guess if I was mixing w/ something I would probably stick w/ Jim Beam, but these days I prefer over ice - I have "matured" from college days haha.

In my continueing education on Whiskey, today i am trying
Lord Calvert. A Canadian Blended Whiskey. Smells like the same stuff my wife cleans her nails with. Has a strange taste, not like any other whiskey ive tried.
Jury is still out on whether i will be getting any more of this one.

Hoot, wha' aboot th' wee doech an dorus?
As for me, I'm not much into the hard stuff anymore, but there was a time when I was single handedly keeping Yukon Jack in business. Moving right along, my favorite mixed drink, locally called a kickstart, was equal parts kaluah, vodka and pepermint snaps. That stuff goes down like coolade and, once it hits bottom there is a noticable "clunk"!
