I miss my 98 T-Bird. In the past 15 years I have had 10 motorcycles. All new when I got them and all sold or traded in. I was looking for that "ONE" special bike. I had the american the jap the exotic but nothing satisfied me. I think I had it with the T-Bird and didn't know it It was a silver and red beautiful triple. Why did I sell it you ask? BECAUSE I AM A FOOL Someone told me I look too big for the bike and that was that. Vain or what! IDIOT! IDIOT! IDIOT!! Sorry about that. I feel better now. Someone else have a similar story they would like to share?? Tell us..... JOE

The family of Triumph triples are great-looking bikes. I'd love to find a used one at a reasonable price but it seems no one lets go of them!
The lesson here is, never sell a bike. I've only sold a couple of the many cars I've owned over the years and regretted it. Good luck Joe!

Definitely left a hole in their lineup when they stopped the T-bird.

If possible buy your next bike and keep the old one for a while. That's what I use to do but now have a family. I too love the t-bird and really wanted one but could not find one soon enough. I bought a SM and love it but I am still a bit uncomfortable with the foward controls and low seat, my first cruiser. After 14k on my SM I still seem to prefer standard ergos and a taller seat. Thought that might change...maybe not. What year t-bird did you have? Standard or sport? How would you compare to the SM?

Nice T-Bird. But it figures..Just bought a new house new car and about 1,500 dollars for accessories for the SM. As far as the two bike are concerned..They are two completely different animals. I felt that the T-bird had way better handling at slower speeds and was a lot faster for sure. But the SM has attitude. More like a Harley.(sorry everyone) So IMHO, I guess it boils down to what kind of riding you do and dare I say "image" you want. As an all around bike I think the T-Bird wins hands down but the SM is a special bike in it's own right.
JOE
P.S. Funny thing my dealer said. He said he could not give a T-Bird away when they were still making them but now everyone wants one

Rod, nice bike! I like the dark looks of the Legend best I think, kinda like a Speedmaster.
The solution to avoiding dropping a bike at slow speed is to GO FAST. lol Ride safe.

Rod...Yes it was a little top heavy but I think the SM front end rake is worse when going slow. In fact I was thinking of a steering damper like I had on my Moto Guzzi. May be a little overkill. Glad to hear your O.K. JOE

Hey what Guzzi did you have? Like it?
The rake I have actually got use to. Just have to remember that I need more space to make u-turns. I am so use to small space requirements sometimes I still mess up. I have ridden a few customs with huge rakes. Not sure how anyone gets use to that, I wouldn't want to.

Kars..I had Two. They were both Cal.1100's. One was 50th anniversary edition. I loved that bike but the riding position was bad for me. No matter what I did It hurt my back. Changed handle bars and the seat and was stiil very uncomfortable. The motor was bullet proof though. I had a New FGR 1300 that I waited a year to get when they first came out. Had to put down $500 just to get it. It was one of the fastest bike I ever ridden. Same deal as the Guzzi. My elbows were killing me after about 15 miles. Ride before you buy!!Lesson learned.
