I got Cobra visors for my headlight and lightbar lights. I thought I would be able to install them all in about a half hour, but after 45 minutes I did not have a single one installed. The only one I tried so far is the lightbar light, and for the life of me I cannot figure how the visor goes on. I must be missing something. Can someone offer some tips?

You need to completely remove the lamp and front chrome rings from the lights. Then the visors fit into the front rings. I trimmed the little tabs on mine off with some side cutters. You may have to VERY carefully bend them a pubimeter to get them in. Especially the big one, it is a very tight fit. Then, using all four of your hands, put them back together and tighten them up. 3 hands definetly makes it easier as holding the stupid rings/spring clips and visor correctly aligned is an exercise in patience.
The good news is that once they're on, they are never coming off, or ever need to come off either.
The big one for the headlight is the most fun by the way. Buy lots of beer, it's a sixer at least. A lot of work for a little job due to the fitments.

A word to the wise is not necessary. It is the stupid ones who need the advice. Pat

Since I didn't have a friend I used both hands and feet. I gave up after 1 1/2 hours after my big toe got caught between the retaining ring and chrome bezel. Hopping around my garage wasn't a pretty sight.

Thanks. I got both the lightbar light visors installed tonight, in about 30 minutes. I'll tackle the big one tomorrow night (I don't want to push my luck!).

Just to follow up -- I installed the big visor tonight, and it was the easiest of them all. It does not fit perfectly flush around the headlight rim, but everything seems tight. I believe I'll leave well enough alone!

TL,

If you accomplished this "simplist of all tasks" on your own, you deserve an award of some sort. Maybe one of those Georgia t-shirts?

Compared to visor installation, the freak et al was a piece of cake! Child's play.

After blowing a fuse and slicing my finger, I left it for the dealer at my next service appt. Nasty buggers, those visors.

That GA t-shirt sounds like a terrific prize. Almost makes me want to do it again!

I didn't cut myself, but I did pinch the s--- out of my fingers a couple times. One thing that might have helped me is that I removed the light and took it upstairs to the dining room table to install the visor. Might be that my anxiety level goes up when I'm in the garage, but I felt more relaxed at the table (oh yeah, the wife was sitting across the room from me, so that probably served to filter my language!).

That @#*$&%^ headlight visor was the toughest install of anything (including the FREAK) that I've done. There was a greenish haze hanging in the air from the cursing, about a case worth of empty beer cans on the floor, a sprained ankle, split lip, multiple contusions and abrasions, 3 skin grafts needed, and a swollen left testicle. Not sure how that last one happened, but with only 2 hands you use whatevers left you know?

Are you a fortune teller or something? I got a Georgia Rally t-shirt in the mail today (thanks Chy). I plan to wear it proudly to the "Wakin' the Dragon" rally tomorrow.

That's too funny! No, not a fortune teller, but I know those Southern Ridin' folk are about the nicest people I never met.

Spent my day spreading good will up and down our little valley from the seat of the my Triumph. Didn't help any little old ladies across the street, but we dedicated a volunteer community service school landscape project and I helped a woman put together groundwork for a river erosion project. She used to ride a Harley, but thinks this TBA is pretty D**n cool. Hard to quarrel with good taste.

That's great, you better thank Chy. Ride Safe!

I had my garage door open and taught the neighbourhood kids some new words. I don't get it, it didn't matter how many times I through stuff at the wall it didn't get any easier.

I need a little more aggravation in my life and like the look of the visors.

Does anyone recall the Cobra part number(s) for the headlight and light bar visor(s)? Are there alternatives [manufacturer and part number(s) please.]

I want to shop around. Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Here's the link to Ma's for the headlight visor. Now the lightbar visors. Remember that you have to have a quantity of two for the lightbar visors.

Thanks Wojo,

Got it. BLV4-2005 for the 7" (main) and BLV4-2020 for the 4.5" (spot sold separately). Cobra part numbers 04-2005 and 04-2020 respectively. Searching for best deal.

Thanks

Have fun installing them, they are a real pain. You'll have to snap off the tabs to make them work.

Just installed these today:

Ebay Visors

Pricey, but fit perfectly/no modification necessary, and <20 mins to install without the cursing noted above.

Regards,

Tom
