Ok, just to clarify, before I get really excited and go buy tubing. You guys are running a hose from the vacuum port on the Intake Manifolds??? Or are you running a hose between a port on the carburetors themselves?? My CRS carbs have this funny bowl vent deally Bob on the carb body, and I've seen pictures of people running hoses off of that, is that the same thing like what ya'll are talking about??
Use the fittings on the manifolds, they are easier to get to. If you have the CA emissions system, get a plastic T fitting at the autoparts store. Cut the hose going to the right manifold and insert the T, then connect your balance hose into the third leg of the T. If you still have the air injection setup, get 2 and do the same thing with the hose on the left manifold. Bikes that have factory installed hoses on the manifold fittings won't run right if you just pull them off to put the balance hose on.
Don't forget to take off the balance hose and plug the fittings to adjust the carbs or carb balance, you'll go bloody bats wondering why strange things are happening.
