I will plan to attend the open house in March and head down to Triumph Detroit (Roseville) and see what kind of deal I can get. What kind of deals have all of you gotten on your bikes? I was looking for financing specials for the SM or BA, but haven't found any. Does anyone know of any finance specials right now?

Interest rates are up right now. Look into credit unions. Or I hit my retirement account for a loan. Since I'm not planning on retiring in the next couple years.

The finance deal ended on 12/31/06. 4.9% for four or five years, a hell of a deal. I used it on my bikes. I worked it out this way:

25 cents an hour for four years on the Speedy.

41 cents an hour for five years on the Rocket.

Everyone can afford that deal.

I paid zero down.

Market rates are now 8% with good credit. That raises your monthly payment $12 a month on a Speedy, $144 a year, $600 over the life of a four year loan.

Math is fun when you use it to buy bikes.

Hey, Roadwasher! You got a wife that will ride a 9 hour day without a sissy bar? Thats priceless! Give her a hug for me! And don't ever let go of her. I let Robin pick out a bike for touring because she would not ride on the Triumph any more, even with the touring p-pad and tall sissy bar. But, than again even the Harley didn't keep her happy. I now own a Venture which we ride when we go two up. The best thing about this is that I was able to remove the p-pad and the sissy bar from my America!!!!!!

Buy the Speedmaster. I'm an oldster, bought a BSA new in the 60's. Loved it, my bud had a Bonny, loved it too. Just bought an '06 Speedmaster a few months ago. No problems, even after I dropped it like a big dummy. Not a scratch on it, had to tighen the mirror. And because I am old, and don't like noise so much anymore, I like the quiet from the stock mufflers. The attention it gets is great too. As far as power, I'm 6'1", weigh in around 300; it goes faster faster than I want to go. (no, that wasn't a typo) A sweet scoot. I bought after only sitting on it. I made a great choice. And all these great people on this site can help you and will help you with every problem or question you can come up with. Now that is the best reason to buy one!

Coming from the sport world I love my SM for what it is. It is quick at certain ranges but suffers in QM times. It is NOT a sportbike and speed was not a factor when making the purchase. If it was I would not have bought it. As far as bikes go in stock form they are of the slowest (qm times) bikes I tested. Small gains are easy due to heavy restrictions but to make it a fast bike would cost money.
Not sure why everyone wants to lug along at low rpms. These are not HD twins and seem happier zipping down the parkway above 3500k and personally I like to keep it at 4k plus. I have no issues running for hours at 4500k.
Like you one of my shopping requirements was weight. Not many cruisers fit my list of around 500 pounds.
That aside this is certainly one of my favorite bikes ever! Super reliable so far, easy to ride and always a blast. Grin factor is huge. Plus they are one of the prettiest cruisers I ever laid eyes on. Best overall handling of any cruisers I tested also.
