The better idea was to put the tubeless Metzler tires on the America that the SM has enjoyed the last 3 years. They stick like glue, even on wet pavement, and have other obvious benefits, being tubeless. (You can plug one in a pinch, and they are not likely to "blow out" without fair warning of an obvious problem beforehand.)
They just took the lazy old , (but good looking) America, and made a sport cruiser out of it like the SM is. Except for the bars and riding position, the two are now geared alike, share the same power plant (again), and share the better tires.
