Ordered the 1" baffles for the Sceptre exhaust and they arrived yesterday. The ordering from Team Triumph went smooth and they shipped them free-of-charge. The baffle are first rate and the installation went smooth, probably no more than 15 minutes to install them and the hardest part was lining up the mounting holes. They are a snug fit and to remove them will require removing the entire exhaust and tapping them out from the other side.

I ordered these mainly because, for me, the stock Scepters were physically painful in my ears if I didn't have ear plugs in. I already have hearing loss in one ear and want to keep what I have. Ordering the baffles was cheaper than a new exhaust, and I can always remove them if I desire. (BTW, the Sceptres were on the bike when I purchased it)

After talking with Team Triumph I decided to order the 1" baffles, which are the quieter of the two they offer. As they put it, on a scale of 1 to 10, one being stock and 10 being the normal Sceptre, the 1" baffles are about a 5, and the 1.5" baffles are about a 7.5.

I can tell you that the 1" baffles really take the bite out of the Sceptre sound. They sound the same, but the volume has been greatly reduced and you can really hear the engine now at idle (not necessarily a good thing). Revving the engine and you still get the great sound from the exhaust, but I probably won't be waking the neighbors or setting off car alarms any longer.

The roads here are still snow packed and icy in spots, so a full report of what they sound like on the open road will have to wait for awhile. Hopefully I can get out for a short period of time by the end of the month. Haven't been able to ride in over 4 weeks and it really sucks!

they should offer the different baffles as free if you want them put in before you buy the pipes

Sucks to be in Colorado this winter. I don't think I've ever gone this long without riding. We usually get plenty of ridable days in the winter. This sucks!!

MY sceptres are still LOUD! I love 'em!

I went out yesterday for about 45 minutes, first time being able to ride since I put the baffles in, first time riding since two days before the first blizzard hit. (Although, I came really close to riding to work last Friday...)

Rode with full-face helmet, but without ear-plugs and found the ride to be pleasant. No sharp pains inside my ear while riding at speed, thank god for that. However, I do think that the 1" baffles might be too quiet, and if I did it again, I would get the 1.5".

Also, did I detect a slight loss of power with the baffles? Or just the cold weather & gas that is starting to get a little old (I've tried to let it idle for 10-15 minutes every weekend)? Guess I'll reserve judgment on that until I start riding regularly again.

BTW, saw two others on bikes later in the day when I was coming home from my Costco bankruptcy trip.

My street still has snow on it. I couldn't get out if I wanted to.

By the way, what is a "Black-Hex Shifter Rod"?????

I've been waiting for someone to ask me that for 6 months now.

It's a hex shaped shifter rod that has been powder coated black. It was accidentally shipped to me with my order by one of the popular vendors on this site. I liked it and asked if I could keep it rather than the one I did order. It was a test part that they had done, and as far as I know they don't offer it for sale. So, I may be the only one that has one.

I figured once it appeared on their site I would offer my opinion on it, but since its never shown up I've just kept quiet about it. Maybe they'll chime in.

Call Team Triumph and give exchanging them a shot, all they can do is say "no".

I agree that it's sacrilegious to baffle the Scepter exhaust. I tried to find someone locally to swap exhaust with, but had no takers - I had an offer from out of state, but I really wanted to be able to hear them first before committing. In the end, the baffles were the cheapest way to get a quieter exhaust, even if it is a little taboo.

Having said that, I've put about 100 miles on them now, and I think they've "loosened" up a little and it's a little louder than when I first put them in. I really like the sound now and have no regrets.

===========================================================

I swapped my TORS for my stock pipes since the TORS just seem to be getting louder. I don't know if I really lost power although it was weird riding-I had to keep looking at the tach, something I had not done in a long time. I do seem to feel a vibration about 3500 or 3700 that I didn't feel with the TORS but that could be in my head. I don't know if I'll stay with the stock or go back to the TORS. Wish I could flip a switch on the handle bars and mute the TORS sometimes.

Dude, buy a battery tender. A Motorcycle is a poor and expensive battery charger. The bike shouldn't be idling that long (and running stationary) in one place anyway. Besides, that isn't enough time to really warm the bike up so it will only do your oil harm and let condensation collect in your exhaust. BAD BAD BAD!!!
