Ordered the 1" baffles for the Sceptre exhaust and they arrived yesterday. The ordering from Team Triumph went smooth and they shipped them free-of-charge. The baffle are first rate and the installation went smooth, probably no more than 15 minutes to install them and the hardest part was lining up the mounting holes. They are a snug fit and to remove them will require removing the entire exhaust and tapping them out from the other side.
I ordered these mainly because, for me, the stock Scepters were physically painful in my ears if I didn't have ear plugs in. I already have hearing loss in one ear and want to keep what I have. Ordering the baffles was cheaper than a new exhaust, and I can always remove them if I desire. (BTW, the Sceptres were on the bike when I purchased it)
After talking with Team Triumph I decided to order the 1" baffles, which are the quieter of the two they offer. As they put it, on a scale of 1 to 10, one being stock and 10 being the normal Sceptre, the 1" baffles are about a 5, and the 1.5" baffles are about a 7.5.
I can tell you that the 1" baffles really take the bite out of the Sceptre sound. They sound the same, but the volume has been greatly reduced and you can really hear the engine now at idle (not necessarily a good thing). Revving the engine and you still get the great sound from the exhaust, but I probably won't be waking the neighbors or setting off car alarms any longer.
The roads here are still snow packed and icy in spots, so a full report of what they sound like on the open road will have to wait for awhile. Hopefully I can get out for a short period of time by the end of the month. Haven't been able to ride in over 4 weeks and it really sucks!
