Hi

I have recently bought an 04 America and while oiling the chain I noticed that one of the rubber mounts that holds the black cover with "America" written on it is missing. I would call it a grommet

What do I ask for when phoning up the motorbike shop? and is this something I could pick up from any car/motorbike repair shop or is it specifically Triumph.

I there a part number or something specific I should ask for.

Thanks
Stuart

PS Looking to 2007 riding my new bike... but in Scotland with gale force winds and flooding on the roads I am still waiting to get out on it!!!

The grommets on that side cover are of two different sizes.

The top grommet is part # T3020135 (this is the same grommet on the cover for the fuse box/ignition switch cover so you will have to probably buy them in pairs).

The bottom grommets are part # 2300130-T0301 (these probably come in pairs as well).

If I were you I would take the grommet off of the fuse box cover and go to an auto parts store to see if you can find a match. It will probably save you quite a bit of money.

Oh and welcome to the site.

Welcome!

I'd do ask John says. I could be expensive if the cover falls off...

Go and look at UK rallies 2007... It's a long way for me from Bristol to Scotland, but the Farmyard Rally is half way... it was a good laugh last year.

Gina 03 America - Pretty stock - except the TBS wheel... 06 America - missing, presumed in bits. With it's TBS wheel... 09 America - It's very blue....

Thanks John & Gina.

I will try my local parts store first before approaching Triumph.

I think that I would find that Triumph will have a 1000% markup and I could by 100 grommets from the parts store for the same price!!

UK rallies... I will have a look around and see what is coming up, I have also been looking at the local RAT groups and what they have arranged.. looks like one arranged a trip to the Triumph Factory each year!! I think I will be interested in that!!

Thanks Again
Jazz

Jazz,
Welcome to the site. Let us know how you make out finding the grommets. Although I haven't lost any of mine it would be nice to know if there are alternatives out there to replacing them.

Yeah definitely let us know. I still have mine, but they are wearing out after many many times removing the cover...
