The wife and I went to Amsterdam for our honeymoon last year and we will be going back this year for our anniversary the beginning of March as well.
I see the Triumph plant in the UK and was wondering if anyone knew if it was fairly easy/inexpensive to commute from Amsterdam over to Hinkley, UK.
We really didn't go to far out of the Amsterdam area last time, but we would like to Train around a bit more this time. A tour of the Triumph plant in Hinkley would be nice. Also Paris is of interest too. And good live original music is something we didn't find last time.
Any "tips" would be greatly appreciated and We'll buy the beers when we meet up.

Looks like about 200 miles. Does that sound right?

Oh thanks....

Just when I'm off looking up information....

I was under the impression that there was an all in pass that included the Eurostar... but there isn't. There is an InterRail pass that you can buy and that will give you unlimited travel on any trains within the zone you are travelling in. If you get a 2 zone pass that'll cover you in the UK, and Netherlands Belgium and France... and cheap fares on the Eurostar. I also dug up this....

All the time I've been saying the factory is miles from the station... I stand corrected. Of the top of my head I think it is where I put the x (it's on Normandy Way definately) ... and the station is where the little train pic is...

Hope it's some help.

How about travel from Amsterdam to the UK? Is there a Train or Ferry or would we need to fly?
I am about to start my Train research. We only rode the Tram and I must say that was fairly simple once we found out you have to get your ticket punched when you get on. ??
Thank you Gina.

Try BMI for cheap flights.
Select Amsterdam as departure (obviously!!) then select 'Nottingham / east Midlands' as the destination.
Very cheap flights if you book early enough.
East Midlands airport isn't too far from Hinckley - especially if you get a car.

If the cost is within your budget. Take the train. So much nicer than driving or flying.

Amsterdam to Paris. Paris is a must see, one of the most beautiful cities in the world, and a great place to go on a anniversary vacation. Then from Paris on the train and through the tunnel to London and then on to Hinkley.

Sounds like a great trip.

Oh, and while your in London...could you pop into the Arsenal shop for me. Sorry.

Kewl... I was hoping there was a train across the water. It seems I have to get the 2 Zone pass for 21 days, we only need it for 4 days, so that stinks to pay for 17 extra days.
If we do, could anyone over there use these 2 passes when we're done?

It's a nice thought to pass them to someone else.... but we could't use them in the country in which we live....

However what the rail employee doesn't see...
