270* motor's are different, they build more torque do to the way the motor fires. More torque, less hp. You'll find alot of flat track guy's prefer the 270 motor as it's easier to get it to hook up, I've even read of guy's de-tuning the motors for traction.
It's like everything else...it's all about application, and naturally opinion.
For me, it's the 360 motor all the way.
