Who'd a thunk they had a DEFENSE! Well Steve, next week when Payton and the boys venture to Baltimore, we'll see how well they play against a defense that shows up almost every week. Don't get me wrong.....I'm no Ravens fan, but we'll see. (my guess....seeing as how the Ravens have never really had an Offense.....BAL-5[a safety+a field goal] IND-3, OR vice versa) GO Chargers! Cheers, Dwight (or the Pats in a pinch....HEY, L.A. doesn't have a team anymore ya know...so I'm ALLOWED to be "fickled!!!)

What a finish to the second game tonight, huh guys?! (That sound you just heard is everybody jumping off the Tony Romo Bandwagon, down Texas way!) I don't know, but these early playoff games, with a few teams that maybe shouldn't be in the playoffs to begin with(can you say the New York Giants?!) are some of the ugliest and most mistake-prone games you'll ever see. BUT, they're fun to watch, I guess. On a positive note, aren't ya glad that the Oakland Raiders(that paragon of a "smart" and "disciplined" football team) didn't make it into the post season, AGAIN?!! (SEE! There IS a God!)

You all are missing the only thing that really matters. And that is that the Chargers will beat the Saints in the Super Bowl.

BTW... I liked seeing Seattle win that game, even though they did not really deserve the win.

I'm a Pat's fan
No one should lose a game that way.
That being said let's examine the situation.
Fourth down 1:27 left ball on the 1.5 .5 yard to go for a first down.
Number one rule in Pro ball take the points when available.
The decision is made to go for the field goal.
What the hell is the Romo doing out there taking the snap, he is the strating quarterback. How many spots could he possible take during the week before the biggest game for Dallas of the year. I heard all the explanations and bulls**t from the talking heads, but this was Bill's call.
Field goal kickers and their place holders along with the long snap center spend the entire season toghter, I mean these guys eat, live and sleep togther. Yet Bill sends in Romo to hold.
Once the play goes bad Romo who is known for his mobility in the pocket looks like 360 lbs. tackle after a fifty yard run, the whole left side of the line was wide open and he could not get in the end zone with all his speed.
One more thing, did you see the ball they used it was brand new and looked like it was rubbed down with WD-40. The field goal kicker is the only position in Pro ball that has controll over what ball they use, I mean they can use the same ball for the entire game, thus the net, when they kick a field goal so he can get the ball back, it is not to protect the fans.
Loved Bill, when he was the Giants and Pat's coach I will not mention that other team, but his time has come to hang it up.

****** straight. Ed Reed and Chris M will welcome Payton to Baltimore next Saturday afternoon. I have a shot at some tickets, here's hoping. We owe Payton big for the last game at Indy.

Yeah, 3 picks at home, only put 9 points on the board against the Chiefs, again, at home, in the first 40 + minutes of the game. Now they've got to come into Baltimore to face the angriest, loudest crowd they've ever faced and a 3-4 that blitzes (something Manning can't crack). I aint worried.
You know, every season I have a fantasy, the Colts come to Baltimore for the AFC Championship game where Manning is given a non life altering yet career ending injury by Ray Lewis. It aint the championship game, but I'll take it.
When Bob Irsay died, I was not only glad, I was glad he lingered and suffered and was humiliated by his own children (proving it flows down hill) on his death bed.
THe football team in Indianapolis will not win until they give up the name and colors.

irsay is dead. you have a great team. they have been doing well. the old days of the team dynasty is over. i would never wish this for you or any member of your team. the spirit of the fans and the team has nothing to do with the name. i do wish they had changed the name. they didn't.

Bet you never thought you would see me talking on a Handball thread. I only like the "REAL" football. Dont know a hole lot about Handball and what rules i know i learnt from a computer game. BUT.....as for Pro Handball, i do like to keep tabs on the Titans (Local Team) and i like to see the Colts do well. Peyton Manning being a local boy from UT. I've never been to a pro ball game, but i did see Peyton a few times in Knoxville. So when is the Cup Final

My post was a bit hyperbolic. Nothing against the fans, but I remember crying as a kid when the Mayflower vans rolled out and, believe me, I'm not the only Baltimoron that feels this way. It's THE conversation this week. TV, radio, the curse of Jonny U is getting lots of play.
It should be a fun game though! The Raven's #1 D vs. Indianapolis #1 O and, at least from the home fans, a huge dose of extra passion.

Didn't that Mayflower Van sneak out of town after midnight, like the miserable dogs that they are.
My only wish is that the Raven's beat on them like "An old broke d**k dog.

There's no crying in football. Payton Manning is a cry baby and will never win a Superbowl.

Ultimately da Bears will prevail in the frozen tundra of Soldier Field.
I feels sorry for the team that has to face Da Bears on their turf in a playoff game.
I want to see Peyton Manning win though. I likes Indiana.

Anybody have the old Sports Illustrated with the article about Irsay? The one where his own mother called him the devil? Man I'd like to reread that. His kids are just as bad. When dad was on his death bed and the little rats were set to inherit a billion dollar empire, they humiliated their own dying pop and made him return gifts he'd given to his wife. What a bunch of sweet hearts.
I'd like DUngy if he were elsewhere and I honestly don't have much against Peyton Manning. The one issue I have with Manning (besides the comparisons to Unitas) is the fact that his Mamma Cassitas has retroactively hurt Dan Marino's legacy as the 2 are so intertwined. Marino wasn't a choker though.

AP story in our local newspaper today about the Irsay's and how the family is still hated in Baltimore. The son says the last time the team came to town he saw a tee shirt showing a Raven player urinating on his fathers grave. Not a lot of love there, even 23 yrs later.

Yep Keith. A well-oiled machine those Bears be. Well...at LEAST their DEFENSE is, anyway. But what I'm thinkin' is why doesn't Lovie spray a little WD40 on that there OFFENSE o' his TOO???(concentrating maybe on his QB's arm and decision-making in particular)

If Peyton Manning folds under pressure this time around he'll never win a Superbowl. He'll be another Dan Marino. By the way, at least Dan made it to a Superbowl. Belichick is in Mannings head and Manning needs to overcome the psycological factor. On paper he's the best quarterback but sometimes stats can be deceiving. Look at Brady's stats in a dome stadium. All most identical to Peyton Mannings. It may not even come down to the quarterbacks, it may come down to a fieldgoal and then the Colts have the advantage. Vinatieri never misses game winning fieldgoals. He's 14 for 14 on gaming winning kicks in his career. No one is even close. He's probably a sure Hall of Famer and how many kickers are in the hall of fame? It will be an interesting game to say the least.
