That's what I concluded -- I don't recall disconnecting the battery cables when I installed the outlet, so I probably screwed it up. I should consider myself lucky, I guess. The vest is a Widder, and it works great -- I opted to get just the plain, cheap on/off switch, rather than the thermostatic gizmo.
