Hey Phil, What a find! I want one too. But why didn't they just use fluid drive for the front wheel instead of a driveshaft following the front forks? You and I need some dirt bikes. If not for our fun, Janet and Raynea could kick back and howl laughing at us while we ride.

PHIL, PHIL, PHIL!!! Pshaw, that is SO yesterday's news!!! Definitely a cool idea, and I believe some special ops groups have bikes fitted with this system.

Dennis, where's the cool factor in a hydraulic drive, when you can see the gears man!!! Seriously though, I would bet reliability and weight would be the main reasons over hydraulics, since this system just uses a "simple" system of bevel gears and splines to get the motion to the front axle. Plus, I would think a hydraulic hose under pressure for a drive unit (with a big enough hose to get proper flow) would make steering pretty heavy when the hoses go "rigid" under pressure.

Did you see the frame kit? I wonder if you could shoehorn a Speedy engine in there.

I domt know...seems kinda freakish....maybe on a trials bike or hill climber....they make the claim it is "proven safer" for both on and off road. Anyone know how it was proven?

Yep. You'd need a reservoir, pump, pump drive, cooler, drive motor, hoses, filters etc.
Besides, the front wheel speed would be dependent on fluid flow determined by pump speed or use of (heavy) variable speed pump and motor. PLUS a way to match speed with the rear wheel.
The fluid drives that have been developed are part time systems for short duration use.

That could be interesting here when the road turns to mush.

2 wheel drive is nice on a bike, I have a Rokon that pulls right through all kinds of slick stuff. Too bad it is off road only, maybe with this frame kit you could make a nice dual purpose?

Definately interesting. Wouldn't the handling actually be worse? at least in the corners?
