You gotta love sports bikes but in the right place. Treat public roads as race tracks and it's bound to happen.
Great vid though Rod, good find.

I was waiting for them to hit someone on a bicycle. As has already been said, at least they only hurt themselves.
We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

Asshats, for sure.
However, in my perfect dream world, I would have the ba11s and ability to ride like that - And MOST IMPORTANTLY, the good sense not to.

Don't worry Matt they are just jealous. I loved laying the CBR into curves...what a f-ing rush. If it wasn't for the little man & it taking longer to recover from injury I'd probably still be doing it.

Two mistakes there:
1-He hit the apex of that left-hand sweeper way too early, causing him to drift too far to the right.
2-He was going WAY TOO FREAKIN' FAST ON A PUBLIC FREAKIN' ROAD!!!

Sorry guys, i know this is going to fly in the face of what most of you on here are saying. But i see that as some bloody good riding, right up till the lead guy made a small mistake. Luckily for him not a fatel mistake.
A Ducati 996, one of the best handling bikes out there, and a Bimota SB8R, fantastic machine powered by the TL1000S engine. Thats two of the best canyon carvers you can get. And these riders were riding them exactly as they were designed to be ridden. HARD!
If i had either of those bikes, i would let her rip across the Skyway and through the Deals Gap on a regular basis. When i had my TL1000S, there were no wanker stripes on the side of my tires. And lastly people. How come you all say about your TBAs, "ride it like you stole it" and telling us how to make them go faster with all the add on bits you can get, yet as soon as a couple of guys, who were fully dressed in all the protctive gear ride there sport bikes the way they were designed to be ridden. How come that is concidered moronic?
Little bit of a double standard there guys. If its OK to slag off Sport Bike riders, then it should be OK to take the pee out of riders who buy a lifestyle.

I agree with you Mark. I thought they were riding the way most guys would like to ride but haven't the balls to do it. I think there are a few guys on this site that do ride that way. In fact I know there are because I have seen them. Maybe not quite as fast as these guys, but only because our bikes are limited as to how far you can lean them over. Just a little mistake at the end. And I don't think they came that close to the bicycle riders either. Some of us came just as close and maybe closer in Georgia this past summer.
if life gives you lemons keep them because hey, free lemons.

I can hardly believe people defend this type of riding on a public road. It should only be done on track, where everyone signed on for it, and these wankers would be mid-pack at best. That they only took each other out is blind luck and the biggest miracle of the day G
I never wanted to lead, and I never wanted to follow.
I just wanted to ride.

arsenalfan, if anyone rides like that on a TBA or any brand of bike its just plain stupid. They not only endangered themselves but others on the highway that just might have went off the road to avoid these idiots! Just plain STUPID!!!!!!
If you want to ride like that, go to track days. It is a shame, however, that communities don't close down a stretch of road every now and than so people can legally wind down a canyon legally. I would be all for that because no innocent people will stand a chance of getting injured.
my 2 cents.

Yep Mark! Got's ta agree with Kevin here.
Those guys ARE pretty good riders, but to go 10/10ths on a public road is a...kind'a stupid.
At the track, there ain't no cars comin' the opposite way OR any crap like sand, leaves, oil, you name it, lyin' in the middle of the road, right around that next bend. And I don't care if those Brembo brakes on those cool "eye-talian" bikes ARE cutting edge....They AIN'T gonna pull you down to 0-mph in 3 feet, at least not at THOSE speeds.
First rule of street riding(at least in my book) is NEVER go over "8/10ths" on public roads.
(I guess this is why I don't hanker after that new Kawasaki ZX1400...what the hell good is it, anyway?! It's too big and ponderous to be any fun on roads like what are in this video here)

Oh boy. I wish i could type as fast as i think. So much to say.
So. If a sport bike rider is charging through the country side, getting his knee down in the corners then hes a moron and shouldn't be so stupid on public roads. But, when someone on here tells us how he/she went riding through the twisties and managed to scrape the pegs in the corners. Well thats OK and is something to be celebrated.
Watch the video again, those two bikes are nowhere near 10/10ths in the corners, those two bikes can take a lot more than those two riders are giving it. Grind your pegs on our TBAs and we are right on the edge. Push a little harded and we're tasting the gravel.
So what about the Public Roads arguement. Well if these guys were blasting through city streets, past school zones and the rest of it then yes i would be with you. But there not, they're out in the country side where there is little traffic. I did think they sped through a few intersections a bit fast, but all in all i didnt see to much wrong with what they were doing. If i had those bikes and lived where they were i would be doing the same thing. As would most red blooded motorcycle riders (if they were to be honest).
And as for the innocent bystanders, ie, the bycle riders. Well i think they were far more at risk at being hit by some old coger driving his RV through those mountain passes then ever being hit by a speeding motorcycle.
So they should save this style of riding for the track where they and everyone else would be safer. Well of course that is true, BUT. Isnt that what the anti motorcycle people claim. That what we do is dangerous and it should be banned. Come on people, riding motorcycles is dangerous, each and everyone of us run the risk of getting hurt everytime we through our legs over the bike and head out onto the road. Maybe we should all just give up riding....just in case we hurt ourselves.
These guys are living their lives the way they choose. maybe a bit closer to the edge than what i want to, but good for them. We are a long time dead, so lets enjoy life while we are here.

Mark I agree with you 100%. One of the great things about riding is there tons of diffrent riding styles and bikes. Wether you are racing or touring or traveling through the forest its really what puts the biggest grin on YOUR face. Now if you think these guys are morons thats fine, if they think your a moron who cares. But can you really put people down for what puts the biggest grin on their face? I dont think so.

Well said Mark and Matt (edited)!
I haven't been able to ride my 'Priller Mille since last Feb when I crushed my ankle (it doesn't start a the moment).
A quick spin down the coastal road (similar to the ones in the video) near where I live would be great for "medicinal" purposes.

Sorry Mark...still disagree with ya. The BAs and Speedies have peg positions that would scape the tarmac WAY before those beautiful italian numbers would. Yes, they are "made to go fast", BUT, I think what we're talking about here is a little matter of "propriety". Those gentlemen may be "living their lives the way they choose"(a time-honored American trait), but it still doesn't make going THAT FAST in those conditions, "right".(one of the things that's always grated about this here American "trait" of saying that "we should all have to FREEDOM to choose", is that there are WAY TOO MANY dunderheads out there who haven't a clue as to what the word "propriety" even MEANS!...but before Larry and/or Kevin start lecturing me about "freedom", I'll stop digressing) And come on...I can ride "a bit" at "speed",(have to admit I've done something CLOSE to this video's performance a number of times out there on public roads) BUT, even though those "innocent bystanders" and especially those bicyclist MAY stand a "better" chance of being taken out by a cager, it still doesn't "make it right" for those guys to be going THAT FAST.(even if they were "only" going 9/10ths on this video) AND...one of the MAIN REASONS that many non-riders out there ARE "anti-motorcycle, is that there are TOO MANY motorcyclists who have never even HEARD the word..."propriety"!(guess it's just not "macho enough" a word for 'em) And BTW...I DON'T and never have prescribed to the notion of.."Ride it like you stole it". Seems to me you'd be lookin' too much in those mirrors for the cops, and NOT watchin' what's comin' up ahead!!! Cheers, Dwight (yeah...it's a pretty sad state of affairs when "The Evil Scientist" here has to lecture about "PROPRIETY", ain't it?!)

Dwight, What may not be generally known on your side of the pond is that many sports bike riders from the UK "pop" across the channel in order to "push it" a little on French roads (as was the case in this video and thousands of others) because the UK roads are too regulated. The pace these guys were going at was pretty spirited and so the one guy finally "lost it". Haven't we all? I say 'let the children play' (Santana). Besides, rumour (from reliable sources) has it that you ride at a somewhat spirited pace yourself (especially on your triple)... so skip the lecture will ya dude? (my best Dwightlish)

After reading all the opinions I still gotta say.
1. I still admire their guts. 2. As for skill level well i believe they could outride me on the same bikes. 3.Luck yes they had a lot of that. 4. Brains seem to be lacking, but that could be attributed to youth as somone pointed out. 5.Complete disregard for anyone else on road.Certainly. 6.Was there a time I would ride that wrecklessly?Yes but many moons ago after a few drinks. 7.Do I ride my bike like i stole it? no.But ya gotta open her up now and then.

Argh...the truth. Dwight likes to go for a roar up on a triple.
So as you look at these guys as "stupid" may be, some view your "a little crazy" as absolute madness and view you as a organ donor in waiting.
For me to look down on thes guys would be very hypycritical, simple because, if i had a 996 or a SB8R or any sport bike in that class (in other words, something Italian and preferable red), i would most certainly be out trying to do exactly what they are doing. Truth be told, todays high performance bikes are what lights my fire.
Which is the reason why i decided when the children were born that it was time for the Sport Bike to go bye bye and i now cruise around on a Bonnie A. But that does not stop me looking at these beautiful machines and thinking to myself....Just one more roar up, for old times sake.

Dwight, you said it all bud.
The entire ride, was but a second away from destroying a life and a family all so they could have fun.
At that pace it was not a matter of would one crash but when. Thank goodness he only wrecked himself. He needs a Darwin award for sure.

Mark,
I gots me one of the old top-heavy first generation Triumph Triples....a '95 Sprint. While I always LOVED that big lump of a motor in the thing(what a great powerband...loads of torque and some pretty good horsepower "upstairs"), the thing pushes through turns like a friggin' tractor(a lot of weight on the front tire)compared to the sportbikes of today. Once you get used to it "falling" into turns(due to it's top-heavy nature) it's actually a pretty competent beast.(but of course, it's more a "Sport-Tourer" than anything else.
Sad note though....The sprag-clutch on the starter went out on it a couple of years ago, and the T300 series(that was Triumph's designation for their first-generation triples) require that the engine to be pulled and the cases split in order to get to the starter mechanism(unlike the 2nd-gen T-500 series). So, my first modern Triumph baby that I purchased just as soon as Triumph returned to the Good Ol' U.S. of A, back in '95,(I remember like it was yesterday how jazzed I was to hear that the "Red Coats" were comin' back) has been sitting in the garage of my other house in Prescott AZ for a while.(I miss riding her)
This'll be one of my little projects after I retire in April.
Cheers, Dwight
