Nick Saban was hired as the Alabama Crimson Tide football coach.
So, Nick Saban, a West Virginia coal miner's son is back in college football.
The Miami Dolphins will find a good professional football coach. Alabama will soon be back at the top of college football.
Any adverse rebuttals will be construed as jealousy of The Crimson Tide's rightful place at the top.
I know, who cares? (besides me.)

Saban is a good coach but he's no Bear Bryant. Good Luck

You can have him Dennis. POS didn't do anything for us here except collect has-beens. What's that saying about fish in a pond?

Yep, we need a good coach. No wannstedts, no johnsons, and NO college coaches! However, we also need a quarterback, some linebackers, some younger defensemen, etc, etc.

Sigh......

Well Dennis, let's HOPE that your Crimson Tide and the Longhorns of Texas don't get together and create a NEW "axis" of power.

Seein' as how LSU is right smack dab between 'em, the Tigers COULD be in real danger of invasion, ya know!!!

(speakin' o' which....how 'bout them TROJANS at the Rose Bowl this year?!)

(darn Bruins!!!)

That's right. Thank goodness Alabama had a tradition before Bear, like being undefeated in 6 Rose Bowls.
After Boise State beat Oklahoma the other night, I was saying "HOLD ON, we're after the wrong coach!"
Phil, our beloved Dolphins will get better soon. We've got the #8 pick in the first round if we don't do something stupid like trade draft choices for a new coach. Mike Shula needs a job, and he'll be cheap. I thought FIU would have offered him a job already.
USC looked great. I think Florida will dethrone OSU as wel as USC would have. Man, I love me some college football.
Some hot chick in Tuscaloosa greeted Nick Saban with a kiss on the cheek, while holding a Jack Daniels bottle. She was followed be police and got a DUI soon after driving away. Jack Daniels? Man, that stuff might make good fingernail polish remover.
Anyway, Bama's got a good coach and we can stop worrying about stuff like global warming.

Dwight,
Bama hired Kevin Steel from Florida State today as new defensive coordinator.
That should mean Joe Kines will take the Texas Longhorn DC job. At least I heard he was offered a few weeks ago. Kines is a great DC, but he favors a "bend but don't break" philosophy. If Mac Brown insists he keep the defense aggressive, he can do that too.

Gruden was my first choice as Alabama's coach, followed by Peterson from Boise State. But no one asked me. Love the Bucs.

But on the other side of the world where football is an entirely different entity Le Guen has been sacked from Rangers. Sorry he resigned.

At least our football players don't fake their injuries. Soccer players are always taking dives and acting like a bunch of babies. Soccer is a great sport but all the flopping around and play acting ruins it for me.

"Bend but don't break philosophy", huh? Well that sounds suspiciously to me like he favors the "Cover Two" defense, (aka "Prevent Defense") near the end of close games. And I think we all know how well THAT works!!! I've always said..."You've had the opponent's QB on his heals all game and NOW you're going to give him 7 seconds to find a receiver 10 yards down the field???!!! Hell, give THIS 54 year old 7 seconds to find an open receiver 10 yards down the field and I COULD do THAT!!!"

You'd think that with this possible "Axis" thing goin' now that he'd start "blitzing" more.

Cheers,
Dwight
(BTW...I didn't mention the Rebels of Ole Miss in my previous post, which is ALSO situated between you guys and Texas...because like France, THEY'VE been a pushover for years now TOO!)

Is a Crimson Tide like a Crimson Wave... or is that something completely different?

A Crimson Tide is very similar to a Buckeye, only much much better.

Ya better just give up tryin' to explain this here american football thing to Steve and Siggy, there Dennis.

They're Limeys...(well, one of 'em's over here now, but he's still a Limey at heart, ya know)...AND they come from a culture that frowns upon the use of any part of the arms while playing that there soccer game o' their's.

You might as well just sing a chorus of Tommy James and the Shondells' "Crimson And Clover" for all the good it'll do ya!!!

Now Dwight, surely you know that the Limey version of American Football is not soccer but Rugby? And unlike those NFL wusses who are afraid of breaking a fingernail and losing that Nike promo, rugby players DON'T wear all that girly padding. In American Football, losing teeth means you losing a lucrative career in movies, ads, and promoting Mentadent; in rugby, losing teeth means you're a MAN!

OK,
Football is NOT soccer. Soccer is basketball using only feet, played on a real man size field. Football is rugby with protective pads, and continuous breaks for rest and relaxation. I coached soccer for 5-8 year olds for 5 years and 9-14 year olds for about 10 years. Never had a losing season. Kids are such naturals for soccer.
Baseball is similar to cricket............. never mind.
Come over here, I'll take you to a game.

Hmmm... I remember another team from Florida thinking the same thing a few years ago. I'll take Ohio State on Monday.

Born and raised a Buckeye, so I admit to a tad of bias. Should be fun, may the best team win.

Hey Dennis,
I remember OSU playing Alabama in the Sugar Bowl back in 1977? Bama won 35-6. Woody Hayes explained it away by saying, "Our boys aren't used to playing in a second rate bowl". Now, Wisconsin is the only Big 10 (11?) team who has been successful against the SEC. Be warned, Florida is not Miami. Alabama is 15-2 against Miami (mostly homecoming games) and 38-12against Florida.
Miami is not an SEC team.
I think Alabama is 8-1 against OSU & Michigan.

Dennis, Didn't Saban tell a few fibs prior to the end of his season? Wouldn't that go against credability? Someone told me today that he had to lie, he had a lot at stake. But I believe Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton felt they had a lot at stake as well.Anyway good luke with him up there and learn to love your old coach, doesn't look like you'll be able to trust your new one.

Then you should also remember that it was a POS call, came in VERY late, from an umpire/referee from Ohio. Miami deserved to win that game and it was stolen with a bad call.

Not a Gator fan but I hope they stomp Ohio into the turf.
