In UK there is a group called the Institute of Advanced Motorists and another called Royal Society for the provention of Accidents. Both run advanced courses, which if you complete, then not only do you stand a better chance of survival, but you also get cheaper(in theory) insurance. Perhaps there may be something similar which you might want to sign up for. For my case, these courses, no matter how long really are worthwhile and you get to meet likeminded riders, from whom you can pick up excellent tips.

when coming to a junction, I watch the wheels- not the eyes, as the UK cagers are often in a daze and oblivious to motorcycles(similar to USA!)- I also drift out to a position of CLEAR visibility(towards the centre line) and as humans are alerted to movement, I might also consider weaving a little as you approach the junction.
(perhaps best moved to riding techniques)
