Although I haven't put it to the stress test, I love my Cortech CX Air with the zip out liner. It's way too hot in Texas during the summer for leather and the Cortech works well down in the low 40's and is tolerable in the high 90's. Above or below that, I use other transportation.
I think the armor might prevent minor injuries at low speeds but a crash over 30 mph is going to create serious pain.
