I’m new to the forum. Back to motorcycling after the 25-year hiatus and just recently acquired a low mile 03 Speedy. Looked around for a couple of years while waiting for an old boat to sell (toy funds). I like almost everything I see on two wheels, but was delighted to find something rarely seen around here for a sane price.
Was zeroing in on black and chrome, but came across this one, which had a graphics package that I fell in love with.
It came with off-road pipes, fly screen, air dam, bits of extra chrome. I uploaded some pics to my gallery.
Can anyone suggest useful fillers for the two rubber plugs in the console? Also, although my bike was in great shape, it came without the factory manual. I found one on-line for the later models with the 865, but would like to get one for the 03 if possible. Any links would be appreciated?

Gari .... Yes , the bikes are perfect (obviously a prejudiced view on my part) For the rubber plugs two (2) ideas.. call Baxter Cycle in Marne, Iowa (worlds best dealer) and order the plugs or do the "country boy thing" and put some duct or electrical tap on the back side of the hole, turn over and fill with epoxy , then paint black or some other agreable color. By the way, any parts, books, manuals etc you need, Randy or Kevin at Baxter are a WEALTH of knowledge and they have always been honest and straight in all my dealings with them.....good choice on your new cycle now jump on your beast and ride her !!!!!!!

Congrats on getting back, I only had a 2 1/2 year hiatus but seemed like forever. That Haynes manual is very good and can be found on the web for $24 at themotorbookstore.com. Check it out SteveB

Welcome to the forum stranger. Your taste in motorcycles is first-rate!
Where are you located? Lot's of good reputable dealers out there willing to help you out.
Also, don't be afraid to ask here on the forum. Extra parts change hands pretty frequently.

I do intend to get Haynes manual.
I live in Cincinnati, OH. Closest dealer is Joe's Cycle Shop in Dayton, OH. I've been there once and they seem to be pretty friendly.
I was thinking that Triumph surely had designed some specific accessories for the blank spaces on the console, but can’t imagine the use. I haven’t yet pulled the console, but was thinking of putting a garage door opener there. I saw a pretty good installation in a side cover on another member’s bike.
Thanks for the nice welcome!

That side cover garage opener was probably my bike. You could mount a small, momentary switch in one of those spots. The right side hole is for the clock time adjustment if you get that option.
Congrat's on the new bike, you won't regret the purchase!

I went 15 years without a bike until getting the TA. I owned Triumphs and Hondas in past years but have never been as happy as I am with the bike I have now. As others have said, the Haynes manual is great, I have it and the Triumph shop manual. BUT, the manual that comes with the bike has all the basic stuff, clearly written and small enough to carry with the bike.
There was a Triumph site where you could download the entire manual that came with your bike. I can't find the link, but I do have the PDF file I downloaded just in case I might need it. It is a 2MB file with every page of the manual, AND it covers the 790 and 865 with specifications.
If you'll PM me with your e-mail address, I'd be glad to send it to you. It's over a hundred pages (no front/back like the printed book). You can view it with an Adobe reader at any size, or print any pages you want.

i have a 03 speedy-- great bike. no problems at 22,000 miles.
as far as the plugs, i believe both are for options, and i think 1 is for the on/off alarm and the other is for setting the clock-- both which few people have. the speedy comes with a tach where the clock wd. be on a BA.
am i right guys?
i thought about using 1 for my running lights and fitting a toggle-- some have used them for other accessories...

Thanks for the information. The clock set button and alarm switch make sense. I considered putting a Nitro switch there, but hate to take my hands off the bars for that.

I think you're going to fit right in around here. Nitro switch? Really like the "checkered flag" paint. That was always my favorite, and looks like it is painted, too, not just a graphic applique. Either way, it looks great. Welcome to the site, and we all know you are going to love your new ride. Feel for whoever had it and had to give it up. I can feel for 'um, but I can't quite reach 'um...

I’d seen a few flame paint jobs, many two-tone schemes, but never before the checkerboard. I figure if I do really tire of it, I could always go after my original basic black idea.
I spoke to the original sales person (Kissel’s in PA) and he said the majority of their sales are factory custom. They buy the basic bikes and swap-out the tank and fender on most.
