I don't like it. I don't like it at all. The Mustang is an American automobile icon. To bastardize it in the face of slumping sales would be a tragedy of epic proportions. It reminds of the 70's when ford used the Pinto chasis for the Mustang II piece of garbage.

Reminds me of what MoPar did to the Fury in the 60's. Maybe Ford thinks the success of the 4 door Charger means that strange thing would work.

I feel sorry for the carhaulers of the world (I used to be one). Mustangs are horrible to tie down, now they wanna cram how many of these on a truck?

Sorry guys, but YET AGAIN, I'm goin' to go against the grain on this one.
I own a '69 El Camino, and WHAT is THAT but a Muscle Car based pick-up! And who's gonna tell ME that El Caminos AREN'T COOL!!!
(Note to Chevrolet....excuse me gentlemen, but would you PLEASE BUILD AN UNDATED VERSION OF THE EL CAMINO BEFORE G.M. GOES OUT OF BUSINESS, YOU STUPID-A$$ %#@%&*@$#!!!!)
AND, gentleman....INSTEAD of these stupid SUVs(no matter the size) out there on road that you can't see over OR through, and SELDOMLY go off the tarmac, if EVER...what say we get people out of THEM and into WAGONS again?!
They're LOWER to the ground, would handle better and thus would be much MORE fun to drive, AND STILL would have the ROOM for extra people and goods when it's needed!
Now I KNOW for some reason the term STATION WAGON has sort'a become associated with "uncoolness", but people...LET'S GET OVER IT, and GET THOSE DAMN SUVS OFF THE FRIGGIN' ROAD AND BACK ONTO THE FARMS AND RANCHES WERE THEY FRIGGIN' BELONG, ONCE AND FOR ALL!!!!
Okay...THAT'S my rant for the day. Cheers, Dwight

All ready been done: A couple of times..... All the above I'm sure were home grown, but the current version isn't the first time ford has dreamed of a 'stangwagon. At one point in time, I had some pics saved of 60's mustang wagon models and clay that I stole off a concept car website. I kinda agree with Dwight, let's start getting away from SUVs and onto more practical cars/wagons. I always thought an Olds Custom cruiser with a 442 theme would be cool. As for current wagons, the Lexus IS300 sportcross wagon is too cool- but it was a failure (poor marketing/poor reception by american public).

Oh MOMMA!!!
Now SEE!!! Stewart here has just shown you people what a COOL Mustang Sport-Wagon COULD look like.(as long as they keep it a 2-DOOR, that is!)
And speakin' o' 2-doors...THAT'S why I've never really warmed-up to the that new "Charger" out there. (Excuse me "Mr.In-Charge-Of-Mopar-Design", whereever you are....REAL MUSCLE CARS HAVE TWO-DOORS ONLY!!!! DON'T FORGET THIS SIMPLE LITTLE RULE NEXT TIME!!!)

You mean like this?
I figured that Mustang wagon was another designer at Ford who got some of the blue acid.
As for the Ranch of the same name??? Well, that's up in Northern Nevada. Near Reno (though in the next county over). Prostitution is illegal in LV.

I always liked the '55 better. A cleaner look .
Nevertheless, the Nomad holds the title of the coolest car ever made, IMHO.

In high school I had a 1958 Nomad that I paid $50 for. It had four doors, looked like crap, had no shocks to speak of and crummy brakes, but that small block eight ran well and a dozen of my buddies could fit in it for $2 per car nite at the drive in (Man if THAT doesn't date me nothing will)
We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

Bill, While the Chevy SSR was a valiant attempt at a "Halo Car"(as you know, a limited-edition automobile designed and built with the sole purpose of bringing customers into the showrooms so the dealers can instead show the Malibu[in Chevrolet's case] to the buying public), in reality it's NOT a very purposeful machine. Among the many piles of "stuff"(a term George Carlin would approve of, BTW), I've also had on occasion TWO motorcycles parked in the bed of my '69 El Camino while transporting them around for various reasons. I dare ANY upper-income middle-aged Yuppie tryin' to relive his youth who bought one of those admittedly cool SSRs to even get ONE MOPED into the bed of that thing, let alone TWO full sized motorcycles. I rest my case Your Honor! Cheers, Dwight (oh BTW....exactly how far is Reno from LV?)

I kinda remember a New Year's Eve, a 6 cyl. Ford Ranchero, a package of Swisher Sweets cigars, learning about Hamm's Shorties during a lengthy visit to "Mark's Beer Shack" in Elderon, WI and unnamedbackwoodssnowcoveredroads . One of those two juvenile boys grew up to become a responsible adult, I wonder whatever happened to him?
