Try making it sound like a medical issue. Faint a couple of times, act depressed and make like it would be good for your mental health. Depending on the quality of the performance the "motherly instincts" come out to the rescue.

Even better, stagger in and collapse on the floor from the "toxic fumes" every time you spray the chain. Then you will have to get the belt conversion to save your family and the whole bleeding universe from toxic polution.
