So waitagoddamnedminute. Victory gets Arlen and Cory Ness to design their custom bikes and we get stuck with the friggin Teutels?

Santa Claus is dead.

That could be a good thing. OCC is at least capable of making a decent bike, the David Mann tribute for example. I would walk or ride a riceburner before being seen on a "Nessmess".

I agree with Jack here. A real "old school" chopper is one made from (several) baskets so you have something to ride.

I'm with Bill and Jack....I'm seeing a trident chopper of old.....rigid frame, crazy upswept exhaust, tall sissy bar, stretched coffin tank ( blue metal flake? maybe just primed?), really bobbed rear fender, no front fender, springer front end......parts all culled from garage walls, flea markets and part swaps, built in the living room over the winter...

Yeah, I think the old man still has it in him. Example:
There was an episode when Paul Sr. had won an Ebay auction for a late 60's metric choppper. All the younger cats in the shop gave him a ribbing for having any interest in (their opinion) a goofy looking old bike. Senior didn't care, he said the bike spoke to him when he saw it, and he was going to ride it. It *was* pretty cool looking.

Rather than starting a new thread, figure I would just add to this one.

For what ever reason, I was browsing the OCC site today, and came across this new addition to their "Old School Series":

I'm going to take a guess that this is the bike that they're doing with/for Triumph.

I can't imagine that Triumph would have OCC design and/or build an official modern Triumph production bike, but I can see them having OCC build a "traditional" chopper for promotional purposes.

Link: OCC Old School Choppers Go to Next Screen, then click the Triumph Flames bike.

What did the bike say, "Hey you #$^)#)&$_^), buy me?" I think that's the only thing Senior can respond to. That guy's gonna stroke out one of these days. But it is nice to see a departure from V-Twins.

Dang,

I've been looking for a simple set of those spiral turned highway bars for years now. Does this mean I have to check out the OCC webpage

Nice bike by the way. Can someone explain to me what omni.., ahhmmknee, omniescient means?

Well John....omni- from the latin "omnis" meaining all or everything.

So I guess Paula is sayin' that she'd be UP for just about ANYTHING...ANYTIME...ANYWHERE!!!

(My kind o' woman, BTW!)

Now, regarding this OCC chopper with the old T120 motor in it...it's okay I guess, but what I see here is basically a massive old Harley chopper with smaller Triumph motor placed in it. The proportions just don't cut it for me. Hell, that wide front tire on it almost dwarfs that beautiful motor.

I guess I've always just liked the old Triumph Bobber look without the long forks and the "heavy look".

Cheers,
Dwight

If they are going to design a production model for Triumph, I really hope they do better than the flaming Triumph. The paint job is tiresome, the tank is too big, and It looks like they couldn't make up their mind as to building a chopper or bobber. I've seen some really nicely done Triumph choppers and would hope OCC would do something that would appeal to more Triumph enthusiasts.

The problem with these custom bikes besides their ride-ability is the price. I know I can't afford $20K to $40K for a bike. Especially a bike I can't ride everywhere. Heck, I couldn't even afford $15K. So even if I like the Teutul Triumph I probably couldn't afford one anyhow.

What an eyesore. Usually the paint is what salvages their machines. But not this one. Matte black and 5k it would be in my garage. That paint job and probably what, 25k, it will deleted immediately from my temp internet files.

Dwight,
I agree. On first look, the proportions just seem all wrong. Is that a Fatboy tank? It looks like they built it out of old Harley discards. A Triumph custom deserves a better effort than that.

That's a 750 Meriden era engine. The "flames" coming out the exhausts are hideous.

OK, so the flames on the exhaust ARE a bit much, but the upswept pipes work with the whole of the bike, the "gestalt' if you will. (I'm practicing my vocabulary words today.)

It reminds me of something Indian Larry believed in. Bikes no matter how pretty should be made to ride.
This thing actually looks more ride able than some of their poop. But that flame stuff and the grab anything off the shelf assembly technique kills any interest I might have had in the springer and cool motor.

I'm pretty late to this one, but I've got to tell my Billy Joel story (and by "My Billy Joel story" I mean my cousin's Billy Joel story). My cousin was working in a bar in Martha's Vinyard in the early 90s. They had an old beat up piano that had been sitting unused for years. It was a weekday afternoon and the joint was dead when some one started banging away at the keys. The piano was WAY out of tune and the owner popped his head out of his office and yelled, "Get off that thing and get outa here!" He threw out Christy Brinkly and the Piano Man for playin the piano.

Oh, and I have mixed emotions about the Teutel project. I like that I've never parked my bike next to 5 just like it, but I do regret the lack of aftermarket parts. If the Teutels get involved, that'll help.

BTW, I think Senior will build a twin and Junior will build a rocket motored bike.

Bingo. What I have heard is that OCC is an official consultant on the 1200-1500cc cruiser coming later this year or early 2008. They will then help Triumph rollout a co-branded line of accessories. This rumor began around the Nor'East Rally as a dealer friend let me know that the 1500cc cruiser was being tested in the state of NY.

OH! Thank GOD! Praise the Lord!(you old timers around here never thought you hear ME say THAT, now did ya?!)

I was just about to GIVE UP ALL HOPE as I was reading Ryan's last input here, UNTIL I saw his little "grin gremlin" here, and realized he was just "a funnin'" us all!

As you can see...I NOW think, God is in his Heaven and all's right with the world AGAIN!

Oh GEEZ!(a socially acceptable contraction of "Oh JESUS", BTW)

Yet AGAIN you have pulled the rug from beneath me, you bearer of "bad news", you!!!

If this report of your's IS accurate, then you have just sent me away from being a new-found MAN OF FAITH, past the questioning AGNOSTIC I was before, and to becoming one of those totally non-believeing ATHEISTS...as THIS bit of news COULD be construed AS PROOF that there truly IS NO GOD!

(OR at least GOOD TASTE going on in the innermost workings inside the halls of the Sales Planning/Strategy Division of a certain motorcycle manufacturer located in Hinckley England)

Thanks A LOT dude, and Merry Christmas,

omg. Just what Triumph needs is a bunch of loud mouth upstate new yorkers acting like a bunch of freaking gorillas and making accessories! Triumph may have issues with chroming, but the terdals have issues with everything those silverbacks touch. Just as soon have the french (spit) design the new cruiser than the wannabe bike builders in orange county.

Let me rephrase, Triumph is known for the great handling and throttle control of their machines. The Terdals are known for building cardboard cutout choppers.

Right you are Paula. If they just knew when to stop, that bike would have some real charm. Choppers (and customs for that matter) should be clean and simple.
We used to keep 'em neat 'cause it saved weight, and simple 'cause we were broke .

Ok... here's the question... If you were Triumph and you were in New York state for bike testing... who would be the person you would want to talk too for consultation and advice on what American Triumph cruiser riders would be looking for in a new bike. Someone that has a garage, kind of a out of the way place to ride and test... someone that could offer sound technical advice... hummmmmmm only one name comes to mind! I think the Dinq has been holding out on us!!!
