Checked out your link, well done. I took my speedo cable to a place that makes them, (Over here they are called Flexible Drive ) and they converted the end of my cable, to fit the sender unit with the 5/8th thread, only cost me $10.
I angled the unit by cutting a 52mm pipe on a 30deg angle. Simple. Mounted right up. Reads fine, now, even in the midday sun right on it. Give it a shot, you'll be amazed at the difference.
