An 10 year ex-smoker said to me "If ever I get lung cancer, the first thing I'm going to do is go buy a carton of cigarettes..."

Mark...
As you begin this process stuff starts working again...like those tiny little hairs in you lungs and nose...these will only ADD to the crap you're going to expell from your head and chest during a cold...on the bright side the cold may help clear some of the accumulated lung "crap" with it....hand tough! and PM if you need support...today is 3 months, 2 weeks,1 day, 10 hours, 18 min, 26 sec...4,297 cigs not smoked.....

Download the silkquit program...then each day you can watch your progress grow...very encouraging...

Over 3 months!?! Man, that's killer!!! Im at the level now where I quit for a couple of days, then convince myself that I can quit anytime, and fold like a deck of cards. My biggest weakness is when the guys from work offer, I snap instantly. The last time I tried, I had 3 days under my belt, me and my neighbor had drank a 12 pack or so, my other neighbor came over and had 3 Marlboros, wanting a light....it was all over,,,,3 days down the tubes..and I never batted an eye. Will attempt said download...see ya in Dahlonega!! (You are coming to Dahlonega, right?) Mark.

I wanted to wait, but seeing how I started reading this post again March 2 will be 30 days.

Last week was pretty tough alot of hanging around time and windshield time traveling.

Had a customer remake to me last week " John you do not smell like an ashtray today what's up".

Stewart,

It goes in waves...some tough some not so tough but on occasion they really suck...anger, bordom, worry, depresion, all this from Smoking...YUP...BUT it does get better...and then you start thinking "that sucked" and If you start smoking again you'll only have to endure it all over again...when you quit next time...and there will be a next time...

Doc,
8 days is a helluva start. good job. You don't WANT a smoke....

Today is 2 months for me and the wife. The depression thing has been kicking my ****** for about 2 weeks now, but I think I'm starting to do better - I don't want to kill anyone TODAY.....

Just think how nice it'll be to get that monkey off your back. Those things end up runnin' your life! Take it day to day. It's a lot easier to stop for a day then it is to swear them off completely.I've stopped for years now and it eventually gets easier.

Ok you may not want to hear this but here goes...At first it does get harder...your will power is weakened and your resolve is not a strong as it was to start with...now is the time that many will give in...DON"T!!!! this will pass then it really DOES get easier but it will go in waves...with the time between urges growing...think of it like a boat riding out a storm the waves are hard and strong at first but as the storm passes they become less of a threat...with an occasional big one tucked in there now and then but soon enough all is calm....hang in now IS NOT the time give in!!

For me it seemed to get easier after about 3 weeks. Remember, all you have to do is not smoke today!

Jump back on the I Quit wagon Mark. Its alright to slip, you are human, just do it again until it sticks. Like playing a sport. There is no loser. You win by going to the game. Do it again.

I am approaching 7 months and still think about them and now am addicted to life savers lol. I could fold tomorrow given the right combination of stress and opportunity. Hope I will chose the right thing each time it comes up.

I tried quitting for 36 years, if it was easy everybody would do it. I am a nicotine addict. If I smoke one today, I will smoke a pack tomorrow. It is tough but it is worth it. Live to hug you loved ones a bit longer. Throw them away.

I try to aggravate one person a day. Today may be your day.

Good on ya, Rob.
Now's a really good time to start an exercise program. It'll replace the old habits with something positive.
One of the best ways to get into the habit is to join a gym/fitness center that is nearby and convenient, and start using it. Just like quitting smoking, it takes a little time to develop the habit of exercise, but it's well worth it.
Just start slow, most clubs offer a free evaluation and program orientation, or pay for a trainer for a month or so to get started.
Conventional wisdom is that it takes 21-30 days for an activity to become a habit, so stick with it for a month and you'll be "addicted".
It'll aid your smoking cessation, help burn off the pounds, and you'll get really cool muscles besides
