The scum bag thieves were probably just doing their usual parking lot cruise looking for trailers that were un locked or poorly locked and didn't know what they had until they opened the door. They will sell it for 10 cents on the dollar to a fence like they always do who will cut it up with out the least bit of remorse.
Just remember the next time some one offers you something that is a "really good deal" but don't ask where it came from......... We are no better than the guy that hacks up that bike if we take him up on the offer.
