On a stock set of America sprockets, What is the approximate RPM's at 70mph? 80mph? And, at what "constant speed" are you getting close to redlining?

I swear I remember a chart somewhere. Anyone remember this?

That's the one thing I wish the America came stock with. A Tac. My speedo is in Km. Set out yesterday. first to second 80, 3rd 120, 4th 140, 5th 160, backed off around 170. I have an 18T. Now I didn't have much time to look at my speedo but this is what I remember as to how fast she went. Did not hit the limiter.

It may be an advantage that the America doesn't come with a tach. That means if you want one, rather than dicking with the worthless Triumph tach, you buy one that actually works. I'd recommend getting just about anything except the Triumph tach, and mounting it on the bars where you can actually see it. The Triumph tach is so far down, you really have to take your concentration off the road to read it. That's pretty hazardous for a tach that might give you a ballpark number maybe. If you try to measure below 2k to adjust idle, it ain't happening. On the low side, mine sits on 1k until it shuts down, and only then will it drop to the bottom.

Other than that, I love it.

I had the Triumph tach put on my America when I bought it new. It's not in a position to really look too closely at while riding, but I still find it quite useful. It's probably just as accurate (if not more so) than the speedometer on my bike. I also think it works great to set the idle where I know it works the best.

This has come up before, but I don't think there was an official chart.

Basically, I'm just curious what the RPM's are at (ballpark figure) when going 80 in 5th on a stock set of America Sprockets and what RPM the redline starts at. Someone with an America, stock sprockets and a Tach has to know this.

-( No speedo calibration, GPS, or hair on backs needs to be compensated for ) -

Mine's geared stock and at 60 it's about 3400-3500,70 is dead on 4000.So add about 500rpm per 10 mph works out pretty close.
I got a copy of that chart somewhere!?

60 mph

17 = 3700 rpm (59 mph)
18 = 3500 rpm (59 mph)
19 = 3400 rpm (60 mph)

``````````````````
70 mph
17 = 4400 rpm (70 mph)
18 = 4200 rpm (71 mph)
19 = 3860 rpm (69 mph)
From the drop down lists, choose Triumph > Bonneville > T100
then click "load presets" and select "MPH & inch" button from near the center of the page. The "Final drive ratio front" number can be changed to whatever you like, which will re-calc the entire result.
Redline should be around 8,000
