never mind. I got it off.

I use the handle from my lift as a breaker bar over the end of the allen wrench. Did you loosen the pinch bolts?

Hi Benny, Yeah, I loosened em. The lift handle is a good idea next time I will try it. What I did was whack the allen bolt with a plastic mallet a few times and that released the tension and I then used a long box end wrench over the end of the allen wrench as an extension and it came off, phew!

An old piece of metal water pipe works great as a cheater bar for your socket wrenches or hex wrenches.

I cut the very end of the rubber handle off my lift handle and use it upside down cause the bottom of it has a piece welded over the end.

I have an old piece of 3/4" Stainless Steel thin wall pipe that was cut out of that rack thing you slid your tray on in the lunch room at High School. Not too heavy but strong. I reach for it as often as I do any other tool in my box.

I'll go out on a limb and suggest a set of allens made for a 3/8 drive ratchet wrench. This usually has enough oomph, if not can be used with an impact driver, and you can use a torque wrench to tighten the fastener to the correct spec. How do you do that with a "L" shaped allen? Geoff

From the "Tech Vault":
Take a 1/2"X 1 1/2" or thereabouts bolt, thread a couple of nuts on, tighten them really tight, (use some red locktight if you like), and you have an axle tool to use with a 3/4" socket. 1/2" bolt works because 3/4" and 19mm are so close, there's really no difference.
