I have checked a few of the local auto parts web sites, but see no mention that they carry Amsiol. I see that you can order direct from Amsiol, but would rather buy locally.
Anyone know which stores carry it?

Stores don't carry it. You have to get it through a dealer. Some MC shops are dealers as well as some auto parts stores.
You can call Amsoil direct at (717) 285-5993 and get the info on dealers in your area.

I bought a case of Amsoil direct. Got tired of screwing around and wasting gas and time looking for Mobil and other good syn oils. Some places would have 2 or 3, some would not have any and this is in the big city!!

With tax (shipped from Orlando) & shipping, it came to $102 which is about $8.50 a quart. Same as Mobil 1 and I actually prefer Amsoil.

The regular price on this case was $110 but they have a 6 month preferred buyers program ($10) that I added which brought the oil down to $78. Before this runs out, I am going to get another case to take advantage of it....

$78.60 - Oil
$10.00 - Preferred buyer program
$5.11 - Tax
$8.65 - Shipping

$102.00 - Total

Thanks Phil,
Canton Cycle(nolonger Triumph dealer) is selling the Triumph oil I think its Mobil? for 48.00 a gal. I get 10% off cuzz I bought my bike from them. Still may order a case from Amsiol. One question has Amsoil helped with the clunk from nutr. to firts gear?

Hey Mike,
I find the clunk reminiscent of my old Brit bikes.
Check to see if you have slack in the clutch cable,
it may have stretched. Also, your idle may be high.
See if this helps,
Uncle Charlie

I buy mine from the local Triumph (BMW, Ducati, Vespa) shop. They have it on their shelf with all the other brands.

Salvo carries Amsoil for $11.69/quart, but I buy mine from an Amsoil dealer for $35/gallon.

Amsoil is good oil and I'am sure Triumph Mobile 1 oil very good along with other synthetic name brands. However, I'm a huge believer in Shell RotellaT synthetic 5W-40. It's a low ash desiel oil for trucks and it's $14 a gal at Walmart. It has no additives and is compatible with wet clutch applications.

Sometimes you can find a local distributor not far from where you live. I agree, if you can afford a case or two stock up. Of course sometimes I don't change mine often. I think once I went 6,000 miles so you don't need much. I know I am going to get lambblasted(is that a word?) for that one

I am a Amsoil dealer and your best bet is to be a Preferred Customer and then you can buy Amsoil at wholesale (same price a dealer gets it for).

If you what to just order directly from Amsoil you can use my customer # 274660. If you call Amsoil they will give you information about the nearest dealer and then you can deal directly with them. Also if call Amsoil (715 392-7101) you can also ask for the technical department and ask them any question about the oil, filters, etc...

I don't want to bust your bubble, but there are differences between Diesel oil and Motorcycle specific oils. Some of the differences are very small and some are fairly significant. It all depends on how you look at it.

Also Shell RotellaT Synthetic oils are actually Group 3 Petroleum oils. Even thought it says Synthetic it is oil refined from petroleum crude oil. Basically any oil you buy that costs less than $6.00 to $6.50 a quart is probably Group 3 petroleum oil that is being marketed as synthetic oil. Castrol started this in the mid 90's, Mobil 1 sued Castrol and lost and within a couple of years Mobil 1 reformulated using Group 3 oils. This forces most of the other major oil companies to do the same to stay price competitive.

Mobil 1 racing and motorcycle oils I believe are still Group 4 or Group 5 synthetic oils, which accounts for the much higher price.
