Semiotics ...

I just love the English language.
When in need of a word it very often ... borrows one of ours.
Makes it easier for me to learn ...

The beauty of the English language is that we freely use words and concepts from EVERYONE. Unlike French and Spanish speakers (and a lot of others as well) we have no language purity movement. If a concept is difficult to translate to English we just incorporate the words. It can make for some interesting moments too. Like when I heard a tourist from the Scottish highlands speaking with an individual whose speaks mostly in Gangsta,

We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.
