I think this is part of the problem. Not to say that it's a bad idea, but it leaves it up to each person to interpret what level of respect was given or taken. I may think I'm typing something perfectly respectful, but (since we're dealing ONLY in text here) it gets precieved a different way, and then it snowballs. So yeah, in theory you have a good policy, but it doesn't always work out unfortunately.
