I don't post much, and try to avoid controversy, but I feel the need to speak my mind. I've met 8 out of 10 of the mods face to face, and I support, and respect, their actions.
I really enjoy this site, and appreciate the info, and friendships that I've gotten from here.
I am, however, disappointed by the small group that seems to have to keep pushing the wrong buttons. Why does everything have to be an argument?

As the one who started this particular thread do I have the right to request that it be deleted.I see now that it would have been best to keep my big freaking mouth shut. It seems that what began as an I admit somwhat sarcastic inquirey, seems on the verge of becoming an international incedent.
And as one of the opinionated partisipants of the thread that started this whole mess, I wish to express my sincere apollogy to the entire group. And my deep regrets for the damage that it seems to have caused.
I will if requested any one of the moderators leave the group. I would ask that such request be sent to me by PM.

I feel truly horrible about, and responsible for, what has just happened on this site. I'm still somewhat new here, and even though I HAD read the AUP, I was unaware of the some of the finer boundaries.
My intention with that original post was not to be political or controverial in any way. My upset about He Who Shall Not Be Named had nothing to do with inflammatory politics in my mind....I work in health and human services, and I've seen much of the effects of domestic violence and traumatized children and THAT'S what I was reacting to. Again, I do apologize if the Lounge or this site was not the place for my feelings. My bad completely. I really do feel terrible.
Thanks- Paula

To all, No one is going anywhere, even if I have to drag you back here, kicking and screaming! And this thread will not be locked. Maybe if we all get it off our collective chests, we can get back to discussing important stuff like beer, stoopid yoots , Gina's new bike, corny/good/excellent jokes, beer, football, bad drivers, riding, and most importantly, beer! Paula, Jack, don't lose any sleep. Youse are OK in my book. This happens every year about this time. All you old timers know this, right? But dang, if it's this crispy in November, I can't wait until February! Let's all go find our happy places, take some deep breaths, and move on. Please?

We limeys, poms, what ever else you wanna call us don't rant about our political system or any of our more imfamous criminals ....
Sure you do, here's an example: Reference to Tony Blair's wife
Do a search on "Blair" and see what pop's up. Be sure to look at the location of the posters.

You pretty much nailed it there. Somehow things get out of hand, even with the best intentions. That's why I locked a couple threads before they actually did. Phil, you are a great Phil-osopher, and I really hope I can take a deep breath too! Thanks!

I don't think a few comments about OJ should even be noticed by our Mods. It's not political or religious in nature. Even if you thought he was innocent, acting like he is now is dispicable. Let some of the threads continue along and make a judgement, then. We don't have to lock it down immediately. Thanks to all the Mods hard work. Matt(member since Aug. 2002)

The little smiley bloke doesn't really help there .... Does that mean I can insult you as much as I want .. but it's ok as long as I stick a smiley face at the end?
Actually, yes!
I think I've got thick enough skin, and if you put an emoticon on there so I don't miscontrue the the tone, fire away. Even if you do insult me in earnest, fire away. Won't be the first time, nor the last. Life is a LOT bigger than what people say to me or think about me, and I can't change either much. As Popeye says, "Iyam what Iyam", take me or leave me.

Relax! Chill out! Mellow! Don't sweat the small stuff! Take it easy! Did I say RELAX! Fer chrissake, it's only a website! Granted, a great website where many wonderful people come to meet and commiserate. Sometimes we even talk about bikes. EVERYBODY CHILL! Love all ya'll. I enjoy the controversy as much as the next guy/gal. Gotta say though, most controversial threads have at one point or another carried it over the line. Big deal. We're all adults here, freaking take it with the grain of salt it deserves. Easy does it! For the most part, unless somebody like Philswill shows up, it has all been at a tolerable level. Folks like Philswill (love to keep bringing that name up ) need to be ejected. Otherwise, just take a break if'n it gets to intense, reboot and start over. Did I say RELAX! If it gets tough for the mods to keep up because of the controversy, then I say lock 'em up, the threads I mean. If all else fails, did I say RELAX! Just so's I keep this legal and all I just want to mention that the red '02 TBA's are the fastest. If they have flames, WATCH OUT! Oh yeah, RELAX
Ride On!

So what exactly are you asking of us Keith??
Ah yes... philswill. Infamous for being the ONLY person in the history of BA.com to ever be kicked off the board. Just goes to show, it takes a LOT for that to happen.

I got pulled because I mentioned the new Secretary of Defense was a Texas Aggie. No how is that offensive? The fact is he is currently president of Texas A&M. Calling an AM graduate an Aggie is like calling someone from Oklahoma an Okie. No foul, No harm. It is subjective to the moderators opinion and no objective measurement. What moderator is familiar with the Southwest conference in football. Then you have an objective measurement. Not a subjective opinion. Mark

Well All, thanks for the banter. This site is a great asset to America/Speedmaster owners so I think I'll just retire from the Lounge and I can check out the informational forums when needed.
Been nice knowing you.
Ciao!
Oh and BTW the STEELERS will be kicking some Clevleand a$$ tomorrow. "Same as it ever was..."
Ciao!
