I pulled the carbs out when I rejetted. Its a little more work but not really that time consuming.

I just followed Pat's destructions in detail from his site and things went fairly well. Once you take out those allens holding the airbox in place (inside rear fender) its no problem to simply pull the carbs up and out and turn them over to work on.
